In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

holograph \HOL-uh-graf, -grahf, HOH-luh-\, adjective
1. wholly written by the person in whose name it appears: a holograph letter.
noun
1. a holograph writing, as a deed, will, or letter.

Example sentences:
The will was holograph, for Mr. Utterson, though he took charge of it now that it was made, had refused to lend the least assistance in the making of it...
-- Robert Louis Stevenson, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, 1886

“An unexpectedly thoughtful young man," said Chase, straightening the frame of (Queen Victoria's holograph letter. Originally, he had planned to put the Emerson autograph between those of Longfellow and Tennyson but then he had had second thoughts about keeping a valuable letter addressed not so much to him as the Secretary of the Treasury and so, with a sad heart, he handed it over to the Treasure archives...
-- Gore Vidal, Lincoln: A Novel, 1984

Etymology:
Holograph entered English in the 18th century from the Greek holos + graph, meaning "whole written”.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Since Obama didn’t write
The books about himself
And his speeches are done
By the teleprompter elf

Where, then is his signature-
His holograph, at the most?
Or is what is on each bill
Penned by an anonymous ghost?

I can well believe it is,
And wish he’d follow suit-
Go away, and leave an image
And render the whole thing moot

I’m appalled at the way we look to Putin because of that gutless **********, using MrT5’s favorite and filthiest insult-even my bad mouth hesitates over it...Has no one beat it into the feckless emperor that the Russians are real men, and only appreciate strength and courage in a friend or an enemy?

True. Oh so very true.

And Putin knows it - knows it absolutely and plays up HIS image of masculinity and health and vigorous strength in every photo-op Putin stands up for: running, shooting, weight lifting, flying, jumping, wrestling .....

Putin KNOWS.
And the Red Chinese KNOW as well.

Just looking at those effeminate outfits makes me want to puke-I like real men in real man-clothes-none of that metrosexual crap...

No real man would touch any of those rags, and no real woman would want them to...

Thank you!

Someone’s alter ego-or a figment of someone’s liberal imagination-maybe if someone turned off the light beam, he’d vanish like a holographic projection, but that is wishful thinking...

I bought a new toy for the pets-a hard rubber ball with a speaker inside that makes animal sounds whenever it is moved-about 15 of them, from a lion to several birds. Husky girl set it down, stared at it until it shut up, then walked away for awhile to watch it from a distance.

Titus and Midget girl crept up on it, and he pushed it with his paw-when a lion snarl came from it, they tripped over one another to get away, retreating about 4 ft. to stare for a few minutes, then they did the same thing again-and again, 4 times until they got tired of it...

My animals are afraid of any toy that makes a sound. They look at you first when it happens and then take off running from it.
