My friends who live just outside Bandera on a high hill, are just a few miles from Medina Lake and it was been severely low for several years now.

They have a lovely home they built on that hill, but I would worry about water. Plus, when I saw grasshoppers at least 6 inches long all over the side of their house, I nearly went into atomic radiation killer grasshopper mode.

Farm? I wish. We named the place Silverhill Ranch because it was our wish to move from the city, to a small town in the countryside in Lower Alabama, away from the hood and all that came with living there. So in moving to Texas, and being in the rear of a subdivision on the edge of the Sam Houston Nat Forrest, with only three other houses in view, and lots of God's wilderness around us, we chose to name it that. The logo being

Silverhill Ranch
Automotive, Woodworking, maters, and Poodles.

It was a challenge to build something dedicated to a purpose without seeing the site it will be used at. I hope it works as planned, I was not sure of how smooth or rough your deck is and the ramp to the upper level, or the width of the ramp, but if it does not work well, I will regroup and modify it to suit the purpose according to your desires. I have a plan B design in case it is needed. After all, it is my job to take ideas from a lady and make them happen. Haha. It is stout, will hold about 450lbs, so grow some really big squishes.

It's late and the meds are working, so I need to go to bed and quit rambling on and on before they wear off. LOL Say goodnight.

After being up most of the night, I was up early this Am, got the granddaughter off to school and went back to sleep until I got a total of 6 and half hours.

What does the seed package say about germination time and temperature. If it is too hot or cold, that will reduce the number of seeds that will sprout.

Re: plant lights, full spectrum for growing anything other than lettuce/leafy stuff. I’ll have to look up the one that I got and get back to you on Friday. It may or may not be the best, but I really like it.

Just winding down a busy day, and am getting a headache, so I need to take some aspirin and catch some zzz’a. I’ll catch up on the rest of the posts tomorrow.

This looks like it would be good. They don’t give much info regarding the light, but I think T5 might be full spectrum. I don’t think you need the heat mat and fancy trays though.

“Farm? I wish.”

I meant to call your place a “ranch”, so calling it a farm is my error.

The ramp is wide enough to accept a very wide item so the size of the ramp isn’t a problem. The deck is fairly smooth and there are no big spaces between the wood boards to make it bumpy.

I’ll disassemble most of the tall round lattice thing around the barrel and bring the barrel.

Wasn’t going to get a heat mat and trays. I have a plastic tray to put the paper cups on so will use that.

This light and stand will be visible to anyone who comes in my house. I have a large round card table stored in my outside storage room that I think is wide enough for this light/stand, so will get that out, clean it and put it in the one spot it could go in this room. If people are bothered by my grow light, card table, and paper cups, they can leave. If the card table isn’t wide enough, not sure what to do then.

OH Texokie, malabar spinach is wonderful. It can be used in salads, cooked like regular spinach, used to wrap around a good ground spiced hamburger. I’m going to try and make some malabar chips.

Oh, that sounds great. We got spit on for about 10 minutes, then sometime in the early morning we got bit more.

Well, I’m clearly going to have to see about getting some Malabar spinach! Not that it matters, but can you tell me, is it a perennial or an annual?

It’s been fairly tame down here for a summer in the deep south. I think you have been closer to your normal.

That dolly rightly is making for you would be great to put a cold sensitive citrus tree on as well. I’m looking for something like that for my lemon and lime trees. They stay outside during spring/summer/fall but in the winter they’re in my garage with a plant light. A dolly for each would make it easier to move them when the time comes.

I think it’s a perennial, Mine is in a pot and it grows up 2
tomatoes forms, The tops are tied together and the malabar is stunning. It loves coffee, tea (no cream), left over wine and beer (no lite) and when it does rain it gets a little water. We’ll see if it survives the winter on the patio.

LOL! I haven't seen any that big or that many......yet. I'm a 10-15 minute walk from what used to be Medina Lake.
