INDIANAPOLIS - A bizarre scene played out Tuesday night at the State Fair when police found a man trying to carry five guns into the fairgrounds.
State Police found the man with five guns on the midway, but say, despite the number of weapons, there was no immediate threat.
Troopers say the man had a gun permit and was allowed to take his guns with him after police unloaded the ammunition near the fair's Midway.
It is not the first time people with gun permits have entered the fairgrounds with a weapon, police say. For safety reasons, State Police asks that no one carries a gun on fairgrounds property.
"We just don't want the firearms on the fairgrounds," said ISP First Sgt. Brian Olehy. "We just politely ask that you return them to the vehicle and lock them safely and make sure they are completely secure and if they don't want to do that, we just ask them that they leave the fairgrounds for the day,"
State gun permits do not limit the number of guns a person is allowed to carry.

State Fair weapons policy
The Indiana State Fair has the following policy about weapons posted to its website:
"No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the Fairgrounds; any person properly licensed to carry a firearm must secure the firearm in a locked compartment of his/her vehicle and it shall not be visible to a passerby."
That policy, by the way, includes all "deadly weapons," not just guns. So presumably, someone with a large knife could also be asked to secure it or leave the property.
Bottom line: keep your weapons in your car or leave them at home.
5 guns? Was he running a booth?
Doesn’t say what they did with the ammo.
Well can you blame him? We have a POTUS that will have his minions threaten your life if you defend yourself from a physical assault.
WIBC Radio was saying they kept it.
I don’t know what they based that comment on.
It might take five guns to defend oneself from the roving Thug Mobs that think they can just take over these state fairs intimidating and beating up on white Americans. No need to reload, just pull out the next loaded weapon and defend yourself and others! It may take five weapons to stand your ground in the near future.
Only 5?
Just wondering, who's safety? I mean, the cops have guns don't they? Is that for their safety? If you have a license you are allowed to carry, that is why the cops carry. Right? No?
As an alternative, I would suggest two large, serrated, expendable steak knives. Holding them concealed, with the exposed blades behind your forearms can be extremely effective in short range combat.
Two or three people could effectively move through a violent, unruly mob, leaving utter carnage in their wake, yet only with a much delayed hue and cry. The resulting injuries could easily overwhelm the local hospital blood supply.
If they acted in concert, moving in the direction of their evacuation vehicle, they would be long gone before a response from the authorities.
Nope, he's a prepper. In the prepper world there's a saying:
"Two is one, one is none."
He only had four guns.
Article doesn’t say what the person did to warrant police contact. If you have a concealed permit keep your weapon concealed and do not bring attention to yourself. If this guy was trying to prove a point the only thing he did was give the rapid gun hating left wing party talking points on how crazy ALL gun owners are...

I carry. Often I carry a backup too. I carry spare mags. So having 40+ rounds on me is no big deal. (Mix of 9mm and .45) But 5 weapons does sound like he was up to something or just not well adjusted. ...
"No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the Fairgrounds; any person properly licensed to carry a firearm must secure the firearm in a locked compartment of his/her vehicle and it shall not be visible to a passerby."
That's odd, the TN Constitution says this:
Art I, Section 2.so, if the state fair is, in fact put on by the state, how can arms be denied?
That government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.
Art I, Section 26.
That the citizens of this state have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime.
No - he had TWO guns then.
two = one
two = one
one = zero;
one+one+zero = two.
from the comment section....

“No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the Fairgrounds”
I guess the cops are exempt from this.
Have you ever been to the Indiana State Fair?
They have the scariest carnies of all 57 States.
Seriously, though, it's Indiana in August. Just HOW was he carrying the weapons?
Standard "fair attire" for an average Hoosier male in the summer is a wife-beater and cut offs.
Not much pocket room.
I guess I better read further.
The fairgrounds also hosts one of the biggest gun shows in the Midwest, but I doubt they'd have it at the same time as the fair. Usually one in the spring and one in the fall.
I went to a cousin’s daughter’s husband’s mother’s funeral a few weeks ago, and the cemetery had posted rules, #3 of which was *No Firearms*, except for ceremonial rifles for Vets, or police. I hated taking off my Kimber 1911 .45cal ACP, and extra mags carrier, but I did.
5=4.
You just need two guns and plenty of mags to reload...
A horrible lack of detail in the story. For all we know he had five antique pistols from an auction in a briefcase and did not want to leave them in his car.
Lots of room for speculation.
No details about how they determined he had the firearms, or why he was stopped. He might have asked a police person what the policy was, as has commonly happened in New York City.

So they confiscated property and forced someone to leave because “they prefer it”. No legal justification at all, just “they prefer it”.
This used to be a free country where we had laws that the police had to follow.
I seems that Indiana State law actually does restrict it at the State Fair.
Does state law specifically prohibit the possession of
otherwise legally carried firearms at the State Fair?
I doubt it or the story would be that the man was arrested
rather than just having his ammunition stolen by the thugs
posing as peace officers.
I’d lawyer up and sue.....for violating my rights and for
felony theft.
see post 18
Why can’t people just QUIETLY carry a concealed weapon for self defense. This “open carry because it is our right” crowd is screwing everything up. Stop with the “bling of it” (look at me I have a gun!). A gun (or gunS in this case) are not bling. I carry almost everywhere. If I’m “caught” in a gun-free zone, they must ask me to leave and I will (or be charged with trespassing). But I won’t get caught..because NOBODY will know I am carrying. I understand the Constitution, don’t go there. But the news media is on the side of gun control. One stupid incident like this makes the NATIONAL news and reignites the “no guns” debates. And the media amplifies it. Just SHUT UP AND CARRY CONCEALED. My purpose is self defense, if yours is political then carry a poster. But don’t screw up my self-protection because you are making a political point.
