Maybe

I believe the idea was that cattle would eat the kudzu and we would eat the cattle but I think that the cows turned up their noses at the stuff.

They didn't test the idea with live cattle before importing those weeds?

Jerusalem artichokes were similarly introduced. The cows weren’t interested. People tried to hawk them as a human food source. Not too many fans.

They have pretty yellow flowers, like sunflowers, though and have taken over as an invasive species.
