Word For The Day, Wednesday, August 21, 2013-- eupepsia
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
eupepsia [yoo-pep-shuh] or [yoo-pep -see-uh]
Also eupepsy yoo-pep-see hear it pronounced
good digestion (opposed to dyspepsia ).
Origin: 170010; < Neo-Latin < Greek eupepsía good digestion, equivalent to eu- eu- + péps ( is ) digestion + -ia -ia
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Get your homework in. The teacher will be out of the classroom for a few hours, mid-morning, for my annual physical.
Make mine a diet. eupepsia that is ; )
I am trying to figure out where you would have to live, as a white person, to not know any black people. That article is nonsensical.
The next day after the meal at the White Hut,
but before Grandma's audit.
awwwwww, sweet pups.
Whole Foods beef gives me eupepsia.
Barack Hussein obama and his fellow muslims give me dyspepsia!!!!
Pennsylvania works for me.
You don’t know any black people? seriously?
What Luigi, the waiter down at the local pizza joint, says after taking your order.
“Okay, I be back with a eupepsia inna momento.”
Remember that old SNL skit about Steagabugga?
“No gotta eupepsia. Gotta cokia.”
I don’t have a very wide circle of friends/acquaintances.
i guess it’s not that surprising, esp considering its westmoreland co. i had black friends at Pitt though. My mom referred to our wedding as the united nations, bc my black secretary and a black coworker came up from DC for it, and California law school friend of japanese extraction also came, and xshub’s korean heritage college roommate was there. So i guess we were avant-garde in that respect.
I’ve never avoided or sought out anyone based on race. But it is what it is.
well obviously not. living here there are people of all stripes. i am working at home today, the kitchen remodel is in full swing. my contractor is iranian, one of his workers is hispanic, the other arab of some stripe [his name is MO... so i figure he is]. today is xsbaby’s first day at NOVA. she said there were blacks and asians in her english class and a handful of whites [one tatted up white boy from philly, who she fears may be a flyers fan and she is already committed to wearing a caps tshirt next week, bc she wants to get out front on that, LOL]
I’ve heard about the eupepsia generation somewhere.
Amidst trumpets blaring and the euphoria of the local pols (and to the detriment of my eupepsia), His Barryness Obama will be arriving tomorrow morning in my backyard to talk about ‘ed-u-ca-tion’ to start his latest “Bus Tour”...
Lots of places. Many live in very insulated areas in cities. There are not many black folk in suburbia.
Let’s hope his driver uses a Garmin and not the White House map readers.
It is sad that the author of that piece feels guilty of the segregation his parents, apparently, sought out and maintained since he claims white neighborhoods have NO black home owners. He blames all whites for his own distinctive situation and wants to include us all when he claims we have no black friends, or neighbors, obviously. And of course being in the South there is NO way I have any black neighbors, or Middle Eastern, or Nigerian, or Asian....so maybe I should ask why they are living in those homes?
Nothing worse than a Flyers fan. Except maybe Ravens fans. ;-)
Next week I’ll use “cochlear” and wait for those jokes.
The only place I have ever lived where there wasn’t a mixture of black and white in my neighborhood was a very small town in Texas. It wasn’t a situation where blacks were pushed away- there were many folks involved in volunteer groups and city government and in business, but for the most part lived in a certain area of the city. But other than that one location, I’ve always seen families of all types living in the suburbs.
Where do you live?
You live in a bustling region. There is new development and lots of people moving in and out.
Back home for me, not so much. People stay rooted and live in the same homes for a long time. So the effects of the one-time de facto segregation still are apparent.
My county is about 2% black.
I was pointing out that the author of this piece was apparently raised in an all white neighborhood and thought blacks were bad people (I believe that is what he said) - so his big realization that they are humans (some good, some bad like all humans) caused him to declare that all whites live like that - or are raised like him. Typical liberal behavior to impose his own faults or misconceptions on everyone else to deflect his own sense of guilt.
Maybe not in Nashville, bc it may not have an educated black middle class. DC suburbs are full of black professionals, my brothers Houston has them.
Yes, typical. Just like all liberals are for gun control because they know they would shoot someone if they had a gun.
In fact we can tell that some lower priced housing has been built nearby because we’ve started seeing some more “ethnic” dress in our local grocery store.....the black teens in my neighborhood don’t typically wear the ghetto sag crap but when I see it, the entire family looks like they got lost on the highway....unfortunately they didn’t -
I live less than 1/4 mile south of the Airport, close enough to smell him
During his last trip three years ago, the wing place he visited was only a couple blocks away from my home; the traffic tie-ups were incredible then.
Not too many in The Woodlands, north of Houston where my dad lived.
That sounds like a good day to work from home, if you can.
I work full-time from home now, which is definitely a plus under these circumstances
Going coach in a private Learjet?
I hear you.
oh, yeah, he’s on his way here after he ruins your day.
Do you have your roadside signs ready to go?
I suggest a pick of a hayseed with a straw hat, and a blade of frass in his mouth.
He is best friends, with Huck Fillary.
Sounds like Camille already has and reading about it was absolutely eupeptic.
I had read that. I heart her.
It would be fair to say, she gives me a heart on..,.,lol
Huh. That would mean I would have to go near there which won’t be happening.
