What's wrong with FR index page... Won't finish loading?
8/24/2013 10:29am | Swordmaker

The index page of FreeRepublic randomly stops loading in mid sentence in the middle of a thumbnail article of the body. . . And re-loading just finds another random stopping place. Not good fellows.

I see you're having issues on pagination in the threads, but this is on the first page of the index.

Not to worry. There are some obvious server problems that I’m sure they are working on right now. Look at your pings, that page is also faulty.

It’s messed up here, probably the muffler bearing.

Mine has been fine all day. Such problems can be on either end. Your ISP, your PC, or their ISP or their servers.

Change both Thread Pagination and Browsing to 50 or 20 and see if that helps.

Do they replace those at your local CHEVY dealership, Dain?

It only happens if you use an inferior computer, like a Mac.

Just kidding. It is a long standing glitch that has been much discussed here. Don't know how you haven't experienced it before.

No, if it was the muffler bearing, it would be pulling to the left and making a clunking noise in the rear end.

actually i thought it was a defense mechanism to keep the blog pimps from taking over or someone tried to post a reply that was so egregiously ignorant the flux capacitors overheated

No, this is a well-known ongoing problem with FR software.

The workaround is to go to your account page and set your preferences to 20 articles, 20 replies. But it is a workaround, and is not a problem with users’ PCs or user’s ISPs.

That there is the universal internet frammistaner where it meets the power transfer coupling to the warp drive. Try hittin' it with a hammer. If you Don't have a hammer call Lazamataz. Laz will hit it.

Yeah well I grew up in the middle of nowhere so the M/Q (mullet quotient) was rather high anyway. I've grown to like the middle of nowhere, however (except of course for the mullets).

In the last month this workaround has failed all but once.

No matter what I would set the # of articles to it would only partially load.

Same problem yesterday PLUS I had to log back on twice when usually I can go a year or more without a log on.

Computers can just commit human errors at blazing speed.
