In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Rise and Shine, or get drafted into O’s war. Homework on the desk keeps your student status.
Good job, it’s not easy being first.
Hmmm... Sebelius and atrabilious are near homonyms, and most assuredly are already synonyms.
This woman named Sebelius,
Certainly acts atrabilious,
She says “kill de bay-bay”,
“And if you’re flying today”,
Smile when TSA does the feely-yuss!
Obama, corrupt, *supercilious
Makes Americans feel atrabilious
There will be a new dawn
When this commie moves on
But we’re squirming with sadness until he is
*a supercilious person behaves as if he thinks he is better or more important than everyone else
I thought former HSS Napolitano was a homonym, but will take your word for it RE Sebelius ....
Not talking about homosexuality on her part - just authoritarianism. She wants you to ENJOY being repressed and exploited.
Eh, that ship has sailed. It’s a symptom of moral decay, sure. But also a testament that the “live-and-let-live” philosophy is strong.
i see it more as teetering on the slippery slope.
A+++ We will have to clean out that Whitney’s nest when we take over.
Whitney? I typed Whitney’s.
It did it again. Hornet. HORNET.
I think we are on the downward slide to WWIII...
We got in at 2 AM, so I am feeling atribilious (def. 2) today. In fact, I’m going back to bed.
I hate that you introduced me to that time vampire. It’s worse than wimp.
Never saw wimp until now - thank you! If you really want to get sucked in, check out the “What If?” section of xkcd, link found in upper left-hand corner
As we wander atrabilious,
Every day it is just tough
To find work to pay bills
And be able to have enough
To afford our food and shelter
And a few small comforts there
The emperor spends our money
Like he doesn’t have a care
He has spoken without thinking
And rattled his sabre enough
When we’re short on the money
To be calling anyone’s bluff...
If there is a bright side to that fake marriage crap, it is that same sex couples part company more than natural ones do. Just wait till they have taxes, alimony, child support and lawyers to pay-I’ll bet they won’t be so hot to get into a partnership after that.
That said, maybe the states will call what they sell at the courthouse a civil contract license, and leave real marriage to the religious houses, where it belongs, in my opinion...
I still believe we are in the end times, though...
We are atrabilious with that albatross around our necks. A+++
Well, it’s the crack of noon, and still no grade...
Our 13th great grandfather came to New Sweden (now Philadelphia) as a crew member of the KM in 1638. In fact, he came twice. He stayed 10-12 years the first time when he worked as the skipper of the Governor's yacht, went back to Sweden to collect his wages and came back on the Mercurious with a wife.
She's not taking the autistic child (18) because the ship is too samll, and he is unpredictable. Yesterday's sail was canceled because the seas were too rough. I think the other boys are going to love it. I'm jealous.
Posting that picture makes me think that everybody has a tale to tell about how different members of their family got to America and how they worked to build this nation. It all involved lots of hard work and facing unknown challenges. Few of us were transported here on a velvet pillow with gold in our pockets.
We need to look deep within us and in our resources to take this nation back and to rebuild our core. This last week in Fresno, CA was awful for many reasons. Yes, my mom is 100 and doing as well as can be expected. Although she is sharp on many levels, at other times she makes no sense. But, she’s better than the town around her.
Once you leave her assisted living abode, the world becomes chaotic. Traffic and homeless everywhere. You hear almost as much Spanish spoken as English and many other languages too. We worked all week cleaning out her house in preparation for sale, and we had 4 guys move into the dumpster out front while we were working. We routed them a couple of times.
The police can do nothing because the dumpster is on the street, and that is considered public property. If the police rout them, the ACLU sues the police. If the police do nothing, property owners sue the police.
We’ve left everything in the hands of the realtors and the estate sale manager. I’m sure that we’ll be ripped off, but we’ve gotten all of the personal papers and pictures out (more than 50 lbs of canceled checks shredded) and a couple of small momentoes. Everything else will be sold, orgiven away. All you can do is all you can do, and all you can do is enough!
Did I mention that it was over 100 degrees all week?
I hope they have their pirate costumes for the adventure, it looks very cool.
LOL......should have waited, I missed yours...possibly bc it was misspelled. A+ Had to deduct a + for that.
So sad to see one’s life reduced to the accumulation of things in a home. I have to restart the cleaning out of our basement. You have inspired me.
I don’t think they’ve made it for a pirate sail — just a regular one. Naturally, you can’t count on the published schedule because it all depends upon the availability of the crew and the weather. They were turned away yesterday and rescheduled for tonight. Mary says she saw about a dozen folks turned away altogether because they are sold out.
I really am envious because at one time in my life I was a sailing buff. I think it is doubly exciting because we have somewhat of a family connection to the replica ship.
At one point during the endless sorting, I was thinking that Mom needed to come to Wisconsin and sort through MY stuff. I know that’s not possible, but it makes a good threat. Every time my husband complained and criticized, I reminded him about his basement and garage!
Oh no you don’t. At least not until after everyone falls asleep tonight and I’ve finished all the stuff I was supposed to do.
The good news is that there are less than 60 of those so far. But many of the footnotes are worth looking into (but not all). He adds new What-If’s every Tuesday.
