“It’s probably just depressed when your gone. Poor thing.”

Gee, the other guy has a key that needs depressing. Maybe these two can work together to solve their problems.

That’s what I have and I love it because it is quiet.

Shutting off the wifi and then booting in safe mode should work. Worked for me when I had to fix someone else’s computer.

Nice! I've never had to go that far or try that approach, but I'll certainly remember it. I cleaned the FBI once but was able to get into safe mode with networking without a problem.

I'd generally do whatever I had to do to get combofix to run on a computer with an infection that bad. Combofix generally wants to have an internet connection though.

I’m afraid glue would drip down into the computer and mess something else up.

FBI is very scary but that’s the trick to it. It’s not hard to remove from safemode.

my husband NOW says that Kaspersky is the best

If that's the case, you may still be able to save yourself a few bucks. But you're going to have to be willing to put in a few hours.

Removing and Cleaning up the Fake FBI scare warning

This article advises to create a Kaspersky bootable cd among other things to remove the FBI. It also mentions that paying $200-$300 is a reasonable price if you want to get it fixed. Wow! I'm seriously under-charging as I usually hit people up for about $50.

Download the disassembly/assembly instructions for your laptop. The keyboard can be purchased on Ebay for a decent price. It’s not that difficult to replace it yourself. I replaced my daughter’s lcd screen on her HP laptop and was surprised at how easy the process was.

i have an acer laptop too, also with keyboard issue. You need to replace the keyboard or use an external one. If the key pops off altogther, then restarting the pc can become an issue because the bios detects the broken keyboard, even with an external attached. Keyboard replacements cost around $60 online, so if you’re only being charged an additional 20 to repair it, that’s a good deal. You could purchase a new replacement, and then go online to learn how to tear your computer apart to replace the keyboard, or you can pay someone else $20 to do it for you. Or you can spend $10 for an external usb keyboard. The choice is your.

I do hate the keyboards they use on these acers for that reason. My problem key is the M key. Once the key was gone, then the rubber nipple under the key eventually popped off and I have to bang it if I reboot the machine because the computer detects the key as fully depressed...it’s a pita.
