What if the "limited strike" is a failure?

Posted on 09/04/2013 4:39:49 AM PDT by A Cyrenian

If Obama gets approval for his limited strike and it doesn't accomplish what they think it will. What happens then?

Will ol' big ears get in front of the cameras and tell us, " well, I guess the shovel ready job weren't quite shovel ready"?

As a counter to the “big boy pants” image, keep on posting him in his mom jeans.

A symbolic strike such as the one contemplated is a failure by definition.

What could go wrong? Let’s see:

1. Russia and Iran are allied w Syria. Odds are we will have a shooting war and a naval battle group is blown out of the water. US Naval Admirals do not like placing capital ships in that bath tub. Between Syria and Russia, they have over 500 anti-missiles.

2. No one in Syria likes us. We have no bases in the ME.

3. Syria will attack Israel. According to Janes, Israel has over 200 nukes. The IDF is known for its tenacity. Attack Israel with WMDs and Damacas, Cairo, Beruit, Bagdad, Tehran, Mecca, Riyadh, Istanbul, and Tripoli become glass parking lots.

We’re protesting the hell out of it, yet the boy king is hellbent on poking that hornet’s nest.

Fine.. let him and his party absorb the facial stings. There will be many.

Get in and get out, that should be their objective as promulgated by the nitwit in chief.

I am not supporting this war or whatever it is called, I am simply saying if they go along with the nutcase, they own it and should bear and consequences, like Hari Kari used to be in Japan for failure.

What is the objective? obama, we need at least one clear military objective to any operations. You give the men and women who do this for a living a clear objective and I guarantee you they will come through for the US. Wether or not the operation achieves your political goals, that’s on you. Without a clear objective, this is just obama the petulant throwing a snit on the world stage. A snit that is going to cost lives and risk others.

I agree. The longer they wait, the more time it gives Assad to hide his important assets. He probably is going to move everything to the Russia naval base knowing full well we will not strike anywhere near there. Also, why not just fly all his jets to Iran and park them there for a few days.

This is all about saving face and ACT like we did something.
I am sure this is what we are telling Russia behind the scenes.

When it is all done. Obama will go back to playing golf.

The biggest question of all.

What do we gain from it, except to save face for the Kenyan idiot in the White House and to help his buddies in the Muslim Brotherhood?

Yesterday, Kerry said there 'might' be a need for boots on the ground if Syria implodes.

Unintended consequences and unexpected results.

As many a General has said:

The man is a coward. Everyone knows it.

What will happen you ask? You tell me. Let’s do role play. You be Obama, I’ll be Putin.

You (Obama) attacks Syria with missiles that takes out all six airports.

I have ordered in advance my anti missile batteries to counter and have trained Assad’s forces to hit US ships in the Med. Assad does just that, and hits one of our destroyers. The ship is burning. 300 sailors dead.

What do you do, Obama? You order a counter attack against anti missile batteries in Syria? OK...but Putin alleges that you hit a convey of Russian troops there.

I (Putin) counter with an attack on another of your war ships, and I demand that you withdraw from the area.

What do you do, Obama? THat’s right you run...or else it’s WWIII.

Without anyone in the press asking what the specific objectives are of the strike, then he doesnt have to worry about “failing” Because without goals you can never fail. Vagueness is a powerful weapon.

In and out is not an objective. Obama has no Objective accept to act like a
community organizer and punish somebody. This will escalate and Obama will be
called out by China and Russia. Drawing that red line came from Obama's
very own purple lipsticked pie hole and now they need a scapegoat, Congress.

Pearl Harbor was a “Limited Strike”.

How did that work out for Japan?

once the boots are on the ground congress will continue to fund them for the next decade.

According to Liberal Logic (tm), military actions are not permissable without appropriately-funded money. (This is how Bush allegedly spent trillions in the Middle East.) Therefore, Obama should be calling for more taxes to fund his Syrian operation.

In and out is not an objective.

I know that, unfortunately that is the asshat’s objective. Kind of like calling for a block rally. Show up, toss some bottles, make a speech and leave the garbage in the street for someone else to clean up. That is what happens when a country elects a gutter snipe for high office. We are stuck with him, no one is going to remove him for three more years, hopefully he goes. Meanwhile, rather than oppose his proclamations, the jerks go along with them figuring they can bide time to the next election. Treading water is not an option here.

Well...what if Syria launches some of the anti ship missles and hits one or more ship.
Or they shoot down a Flyer.
or they launch on Israel.
This area is Gods monkey house.

If Obama gets approval for his limited strike and it doesn't accomplish what they think it will. What happens then?

The stated purpose is to keep Assad from gassing his people again. But if the U.S. launches a limited strike then how can that do anything but force Assad to gas more people just to show he isn't cowed by the U.S.? I just don't see any way that the kind of half-assed missile attach is going to accomplish anything or prevent any future attacks.
