What if the "limited strike" is a failure?

Posted on 09/04/2013 4:39:49 AM PDT by A Cyrenian

If Obama gets approval for his limited strike and it doesn't accomplish what they think it will. What happens then?

Will ol' big ears get in front of the cameras and tell us, " well, I guess the shovel ready job weren't quite shovel ready"?

They are already talking about a “committment” months long, not days or weeks. No, this is an open ended military involvement and the lemmings in the congress are lining up behind it. I think they should all take an oath which says if we don’t accomplish this objective, they quit and forego their benefits.

The Boy King is poking a hornet’s nest with just a little stick. What could go wrong?

Well since there’s no goal, purpose or objective, how can it be a failure?

It’s one or two cruise missiles aimed at some Syrian DOD office building. The only way it fails is if the things don’t explode.

It won't fail. You are just confused about the objectives.

1. Allow Obama to say he did something bold.

2. Provide the media a stage prop to declare, “Obama took bold decisive action, but only after the kind of careful deliberation that is normally associated with Solomon or a Greek hero.”

As long as he launched one missile, he will achieve #1 and #2.

I think they should consider Dick Armey’s proposal, but wait that will never happen.

...........................................................
First what do they think it will accomplish?

The bombing is only being done to save Obama’s face.
Will it accomplish that?

If the bombing helps the Muslim Brotherhood it only accomplishes placing Sharia law in another country and getting the Christians there killed.

Do we really want to replace Assad with something worse like we got in Egypt?

The bombing might really start a hot war, is that an accomplishment?
Russia might intervene is that an accomplishment? Are the unknowns really worth the risk to save Obama’s face, when the rest of the world is already laughing at this fool?

Obama has been a failure ever since he was elected, especially in the foreign policy area.

Yet he still shepherds the flock of the faithful and is never held accountable for anything that goes wrong. This won’t be any different.

are these insane idiots going to push forward and attack Syria believing there won't be any consequences or risk of a major war ?

psychopaths are leading this country into something that is clearly not in our interests to say the least.

I don’t want this un-American assman “leading” us anywhere, no less to war. He’s an incompetent CIC surrounded by islamist facilitators all the way down the line.

NO!

There is no such thing as a “limited strike”. An authorization by Congress is the equivalent of a declaration of war. It will involve the United States in a prolonged bloody Mideast quagmire. Boehner can then weep real tears for the deaths he could have prevented. Obama, the narcissist, will blame others. Also this stupidity is also partly the result of the Joints Chief of Staff devolving into just another politically correct office staffed by toady careerists,

It doesn't matter WHAT happens; the State-Run-Media will credit the Nobel-Prize-Winning Messiah with success, brilliance, etc., etc.

There is NOTHING that he can do or say that will be criticized or condemned.....

Exactly. As long as Obama feels better afterward, it will be deemed a success.

They’re lying. They have every intent of getting troops on the ground and and once the boots are on the ground congress will continue to fund them for the next decade.

“It’s a trap!” Famous quote by (appropriately) Admiral Akbar. The inevitable failure of the strike or failure to support one will be squarely blamed on the political opposition.

it has failed before it started.

he’s basically said “what where when why” to them giving them plenty of time to prepare and move things.

Of course not - one of the several great things about government jobs is NEVER having to admit you made a mistake. (Along with spending OTHER PEOPLES' hard earned money and Never having to face any consequences for your actions no matter how idiotic).

Whenever some idiotic idea that comes out of government fails (as most of them do) what so you hear the politicians and bureaucrats say? You never hear, "We did the wrong thing." No, what you hear is, "We didn't go far enough." If doing X amount of something makes things worse then somehow doing 10 times X will magically reverse the effect instead of making things ten times worse. It defies logic. I can't determine if the morons that our ignorant stupid electorate elects to represent them really believe this or that they're cynically posturing for the true believers who constitute their base.

I guarantee you a limited strike would be a failure. That it would not accomplish what obama claims to want to do. It might put a crimp in operations over there for a while, but a strike would anger Russia and China. They would soon make good any of Assad's losses.

Anyone remember Vietnam? The limited, micromanaged bombing camaign? Remember how well gradual increases worked? How stopping and starting on a whim only gave them chances to rebuild defenses? There is only one good way to run a war, and a nearly infinite number of ways to screw it up. obama seems determined to screw up.
