One of the towns we visited had an art museum I sorely wanted to visit but was outvoted.
Do you still visit any of those towns?
Haven’t been over there in probably 4 years or so now. Too many stories of people being kidnapped. My 3 daughters are all very pretty, well dressed blondes, and attracted a lot of attention. We would be a large group as some of the grandkids always went too. It just became too worrisome.
[I’ve since lost one of those daughters and we are more subdued now. The old ‘fun times’ are filled with too many memories too.]
I bought the most wonderful table in Matamoros years ago. It is a round carved wood end table with a complete onyx top. There are small lights underneath that can be lit up to show off the onyx. It was downstairs in a Hotel and I asked about buying it and they let me!

Sad that you all can no longer enjoy and help out their economy. How did it get this way?
Sometime after we’d been there, several years at least, we heard of some 2 or 3 dozen bodies were found and at least one report said it was due to some odd religious thing.
It was plain to see there were wealthy homes but they were few compared to impoverished ones and there didn’t appear to be much in between.
Where do you think will it go?
Mexico seems to be completely controlled by the drug gangs now and it has been coming across the border for years. I mean that there are small towns on our side that are run by the drug cartels. My city catches them coming through here with tons of drugs headed for the big cities.
Mexico is what Obama is doing to us, there are the rich and the poor and not much of what we call the ‘middle class’. They even kidnap Americans on our side and warn the families not to tell anyone or they will kill them all.
I’ve been deep in Mexico by car [years ago] and never had any trouble and the people were always friendly and kind, it’s sad. I don’t know how they can fix it LJ, the government never seems to have a solution and the military gets corrupted too.
My daughter will be moving away from there soon. She has a beautiful home and I just hope she can sell it!
