I always record the games. And I am now disciplined enough to delay watching the video until about 90 minutes have passed. Then, I can watch the entire game in well under two hours, fast-forwarding through the endless commercials and, often, the constant blather between plays.

My favorite trick: Offense is stopped on third down inside the opponent’s 25. Obvious field-goal attempt coming up. Fast-forward—watch the ball go through the uprights and see the score change. Blast through the long commercial. Continue to fast-forward as kickoff sails through the end zone or is downed for a touchback. Zip through ensuing commercial and stop just as they break the huddle, first and ten at the 20 yard-line. Did not miss any action and saved 5-7 minutes of my life.

I was also trying to talk people out of bidding for Suter’s Wild jersey, right next to Parise’s(the bromance continues). Doughty’s went for a good price, as did Hartnell’s Flyers one. People still love Scotty here, but Suter? Not so much...

But doing that you risk missing some of the brilliant insights of Collinsworth and Michaels. Oh wait, there is none. Nevermind.

IS there anything about politics that isn’t both risible and depressing in the same moment?

Dave Chappelles act and his comments regarding his failed show in Hartford are hardly risible.

Never liked the guy anyway.

I have become a fan of Kevin Nealon lately. He was in Boston this spring and visited my niece who was in the hospital dealing with her Crohns disease again. Hung out with several people, and just made them all feel better. He didn’t need to do anything like that, but he just does it. I like that!

Yes, i have been doing that for years. Unless the offense is running a hurry up, the button that skips ahead 30 seconds take you from tackle to snap of the next play.

That gets a rare dual-approval by both the Captain, and the Chief Medical Officer:

Who is running this Cracker Jack factory? John Kerry drawing lines in the sand? Susan Rice being sent out to sell any idea whatever? Risible? You can’t make this stuff up.

Risible

When the rabble rise above their station they become risible. Cuthbert just graduated Notary Public training and also received a Certificate of Appreciation for learning the Dewey Decimal System. There’s just no telling how far Cuthbert will rise in our town’s heady intellectual atmosphere.
