Way way back in the day Don Adams did a comedy album called “The Roving Reporter”. The premise was he was a Zelig like figure who appeared at historic events in order to get the prize interview.

In one bit the roving reporter is on top of Mt. Everest waiting for Sir Edmund Hillary to get to the top. The beginning of the interview goes well with lots of congratulations all around. Then it slowly dawns on Sir Edmund that if the reporter was up there waiting for him, then he, Sir Edmund, couldn’t possibly be the first man to climb Everest.

So Sir Edmund tells the roving reporter to step a bit closer to “appreciate the spectacular view” ....
