Skip to comments.Best dad ever? The father who donned a a pair of skin-tight Daisy Dukes
Posted on 09/13/2013 8:28:36 AM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks
A Utah dad fed up with his daughters preference for very short shorts decided to teach her a lesson by donning some Daisy Dukes of his own.
Scott Mackintosh was about to go on a family night out, but when he asked his daughter to kindly change into longer shorts and she refused, he took some scissors to an old pair of his own jeans.
The result was a revealing pair of cut-offs designed to show his daughter her shorts arent as cute as she thinks.
In our family we have pretty definite modesty guidelines, writes Mackintosh on his wife Beckys blog.
One of those guidelines happens to be no short-shorts.
Im a firm believer that the way we dress sends messages about us, and it influences the way we and others act, he writes.
Every Monday, the Mackintoshes do something together in an effort to try to spend time with just the family.
Last Monday, they decided to go out to eat.
But as they were about to leave, Mackintoshs teen daughter was resoluteshe would not change out of her Daisy Dukes.
At first, the kids had their heads buried in their phones, Mackintosh said, and didnt notice his revealing attire.
Why are you dressed like that? his daughter eventually asked when they were nearly at the restaurant. Oh well, I dont care.
Dinner came and went without Mackintoshs daughter breaking a sweat, so he decided to take things to the next level.
OK, lets go miniature golfing, he said.

Intervening in/molding her choices sooner would have been more productive.
Good for the dad.
But why? Why were those shorts in the house in the first place? Did the daugher buy them with her own money? Perhaps.
But most likely - Dad (or mom) bought them. In my house - those shorts would have just “disappeared”.
Another alternative would have been to just not go out as a family.
Did they buy the shorts for her?
Now that school is back in session on my drive to pick up my kids at their private school I have to drive by a large public high school and junior high. The things these girls wear is appalling.
OTOH the boys just look stupid in their skater apparel.
Um, her father tells her to change and she refused? In my house, she would have stayed home and starved.
While I think his approach probably worked, I can’t imagine telling my dad that I would not obey his rules. He would have told me the door is locked and you’re not leaving dressed like that. And there would have been none of this I-paid-for-it-so-I-can-wear-what-I-want crap. Sure, I had a job and bought my own clothes, but I was also made to return clothing that did not meet with my parents’ approval.
Come on, parents, bring down the gavel! Doesn’t anyone teach respect for authority anymore?
Ok, rant over..........
This thread is worthless with pictures.
He’s not concerned that her name is Myley? Is that her given name or a name change?
My lay? That’s what her boyfriend calls her...
The kid would just call SRS and file a complaint against the parent...as they were taught in school.
I went to the link. And I have to admit, the dad has some decent legs.
TO be avoided if a parent starts out early....but waiting until she is a teen, useless.
WInning by means of Humiliation may not be the best method.
Becky should wear them.
I'd hit it.
Since an anxious mod apparently TOTALLY misconstrued my meaning....it looks unbelievably uncomfortable.
This guy has a point, but I think a simpler method would be “You’re not going out looking like that. Why? Because I’m your father. Yes, I know it’s not fair. Tough.”
The girl refused to change when her father asked her to??? I dont understand the kind of parenting that allows a child to refuse anything requested by a parent.
I’m just glad Michael Moore wasn’t her dad. I don’t want that image in my mind
Nice to see Scotty Ian still moving around.
His shorts weren’t near short enough for what girls are wearing. He needed to show the bottom curve of his cheeks, then have the top of some thongs at the waistband and then have them so tight his daughter would see the dime in his pocket.
As for who bought her shorts, she probably did on her last trek to the mall with all her friends. Yes, dad probably gave her the money for the shopping trip.
Inappropriate clothing here would sometimes disappear in the laundry.
I dont understand the kind of parenting that allows a child to refuse anything requested by a parent.
Same here. I also don’t understand the kind of child rearing that would produce a daughter who thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to go out in public dressed like a hooker.
Looking at the photo of his daughter, who is dressed like a hooker, leads me to believe that Dad’s “intervention” should have started quite a few years earlier.
can sooooo see you doing this!!
I really wonder if this girl and her father are actually just in cahoots to get their 15 minutes of fame.
Yes, inappropriate clothing was not allowed in my house when I was raising my children. Fortunately, I had 4 boys, so revealing clothing was not an issue, but sometimes T-shirts with inappropriate sayings needed to be dealt with.
I have a fond memory of going up behind one of my sons when he was 17 and wearing a shirt that he had borrowed from a friend. Fortunately, the shirt was rather old and worn, so I was able to hook my finger in a small hole in the back near the neck and rip the shirt in two down the back.
Not here. The owner would be made to throw them out him/her self.
FYI, Simpson can’t hold a candle to Bach in TDOH!
What's your price for taking someone off your ping list?
Free, you need off?
Free? Sorry, can’t afford that.
Lemmy must’ve been out of whiskey that day...

I don’t know what happened to todays parents....but my children were taught that mom and dads word was final....end of story....
We have rules and they were followed...
Made family life much easier...
I’ll give you double the amount.
Maybe he was just looking for an excuse to wear that cute little outfit [and have the pic go "viral" as well]. I vote "weirdo."
(Nice legs, regardless.)
Dang, Laz, you do drive a hard bargain.
Let me look for my abacus and I’ll get back to you soon as I figure the profit on that.
On most issues, parenting is quite easy......I say no, you say yes ma’am, you try to to add a “but” in your next breath, I take a step closer, you stop talking, and we move on. What could be easier?
My wife showed me the story yesterday - the dude is brilliant, I loved it
Well, I’m glad you have an open mind to alternate lifestyles, Laz. Just don’t hit me up to pay your resulting medical bills.
DON'T JUDGE ME.
Yeah, that was the plan. Drats, foiled again!
No doubt Agent Mataz helped you out there; admit it. Next time, pal, next time...
