'Arizona Highways' Pulls October Issue Over Mushroom Error
Arizona Highways ^ | Fri Sep 13, 2013

Arizona Highways magazine today announced its October 2013 issue features an item on page 13, in which the fly agaric mushroom is identified as being edible. The fly agaric mushroom should not be consumed in its raw form because of its unpredictable psychotropic and physical effects.

“This issue will not be sold on newsstands, and we are alerting our subscribers to the mistake. We regret the error,” said Win Holden, publisher of Arizona Highways magazine.

the stories of people “inadvertantaly””flying” off the top of tall buildings...and attempting to do other mpossible stunts will likely soon start flooding the news outlets

Fly Agaric Mushrooms are POTENT Wacky Medicine

I have it on good authority that actually consuming...rather than smoking same often makes the “diner” get the sense they are INVINCIBLE

If anyone is daring enough to pick wild mushrooms for food, it’s essential that they regularly consume large amounts of milk thistle herb, or its active ingredient “silymarin”.

The reason is that poisonous mushroom are so poisonous that they can destroy a person’s liver in less than a week, and silymarin is the only known substance that *might* protect their liver.

In fact the poison is so incredibly toxic that there have been cases of people who had their livers destroyed, then got a transplant liver, and there was still enough poison in their system to destroy it as well.

Silymarin works in three ways. First it protects the liver from the direct effects of the poison. Second it inhibits the uptake of the poison into the liver, giving it more of a chance to metabolize the poison. And third, it stimulates regrowth of damage to the liver 1/3rd faster than normal. It is close to the perfect liver drug.

Only one mammal is known to be immune to the effects of poisonous mushrooms. Rabbits.

LOL! Reminds me of a comment made by the instructor while taking a survival course: “Edible does not mean good to eat, it just means that you will not drop dead face first in your plate.”

Arizona Highways has not been the same since they went Commercial.

Used to be a real good magazine, now it is like most travel magazines.

One scene partially remembered from “Taxi” has Jim Ignatowski telling a story from his past on forgiveness, saying he and his BFF were doing mushrooms on top of some mountain, and his friend ate the one. “And I forgave him for that. Not because he thought he could fly and jump off the cliff to his death, but...”.
