Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has released three silicon-validated reference flows within the open innovation platform (OIP) that enable 16 FinFET systems-on-chip (SoC) designs and 3D chip stacking packages. Leading electronic design automation (EDA) vendors collaborated with TSMC to develop and validate all these flows through multiple silicon test vehicles. There are three reference flows.

Intel just announced a schedule at IDF13.....their showcase for advanced technology their plans to get to advanced fabrication....seemed to be light years ahead of anyone else.
This says they are only a few years ahead .....

Well it is nice to see they are still in business, employing some Americans. :)
It will be interesting to see how flexible these SoC's will be regarding how they can be programed to present a given type system. And what the underling type systems shall be represented, say just as one example. Digital Signal Processors, with perhaps the means to also contain fire control radar or other type functionality.
Time will tell.

We need some good tutorials for nontechnical freepers regarding what can be done as they cram more transistors onto a 200 mm square chip.

It’s all ‘Greek’ to me, but I know that Samsung plans to spend billions expanding their Austin, Tx semiconductor plant.
