In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

aegis (EE-jis) noun
Protection, support, guidance, or sponsorship of a particular person or organization.

Example sentence:
"The French hope that by April an African force will have come under the UN's aegis.
--"The Battle Moves to the Mountains; The Economist (London, UK); Feb 9, 2013.

Etymology:
From Latin aegis, from Greek aigis (goatskin), from aix (goat). Aigis was the name of the shield or breastplate of Zeus or Athena in Greek mythology. It was made of goatskin. Earliest documented use: 1704.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Sauteed some onions, and ground beef.

Kids went berzerk.

(i am not allowed to make it with Peeled tomatoes. But thats how its best)
Mac w/tomatoes and cheese, two pots, 20 minutes and some bowls. No leftovers.

She had to pull all the chicken off a rotisserie ones and then saute it with onions, garlic, tomato paste, sugars, walnuts, raisins, vinegar, CILANTRO, and some other stuff. She made me nervois with the knives and I finally said, I’ll do the rest, you need your thumbs. Then to roast and peel poblanos, a major pain. She also is using pmegranate seeds for garnish, along with the cheese sauce and cilantro(red white, and green). I just wonder how many kids will even try it at 8:15 in the morning!

Honestly, I am not a cooking type and it wore me out. No wonder those Mexican ladies are always in the kitchen!

i think that is a far more elaborate dish and one for a special occasion, than what they ordinarily eat! it doesn’t sound appealing to me, but i am sure it’s very authentic. i am not huge on mexican anyway. did you taste it?

Ick, no. Did you see the ingredients? It is described as a once a year dish for the celebration. She and her dad sampled it and said it was delicious.

I dont cook often, but I do it very well, and my first thought when I see a recipe is the most efficient way to do it.

(its why my wife hates me lol)

Whenever I cook, the most mess I have left, is the plates I served it on.

(see above, mac and cheese, drain pasta, back in pot, throw sauce in pot, clean saucepan, dole out food, fill remaining vessel with smoking hot water, put bowls in pot, 8 bowls, 5 minutes worth of washing..no need to tax the dishwasher)

By the time dessert is on the table, the sink is empty.

(and yes, its gauche, but I use plastic for dessert, i prefer to engage in the post dinner activity)

900 million cookbooks in the world. None on effiency. Not even RR 20 minute scam. She can cook in 20 minutes, but leaves an hours worth of detritus.

I love that because it makes perfect sense to me. That’s how I run the kitchen, clean as you go. My spouse uses the opposite approach, use every pan and utensil you can find. It’s why we cook better separately. And he wins out because when one cooks, the other cleans up afterward.

You are like me, he is like she.

Its why I dont clean up after. Ill do the garbage, gather the plates etc, but not dishes

Mytake is, Id love to clean up, but you need to use my model for efficiency.

Its far less agitating to do the little guys homework with him.

If obama did not enjoy the aegis of the drive-by media, he would never be able to get away with shenanigans like this:

Obama waives ban on arming terrorists...
