Pvt. Jessica Lynch, 10 Years After Iraq Rescue: Pain But Much Gain
ABC News via Yahoo ^ | 9-19-13 | ANGEL CANALES

Posted on 09/19/2013 4:07:18 PM PDT by Houmatt

It was back in March 23, 2003, just three days after the start of the Iraq War, when Private First Class Jessica Lynch's unit was ambushed in Nasiriyah, Iraq. Lynch was only 19 when she was captured, badly injured and raped by Iraqi forces and held hostage for nine days before her dramatic rescue by US Rangers on April 1, 2003.

Controversy surrounds the "mythic" rescue story line. Lynch has blamed the Bush administration for exaggerating the bravery and success of the war with her story. "I knew that, even ten years later, I would not have been able to live with myself knowing that I let those stories escalate and I went along with what those other people were saying, because I knew in my heart that that's not really what happened," Lynch told ABC News' Bob Woodruff.

She was knocked unconscious and had several bones broken when her truck crashed. She wasn’t firing any weapon no matter how well she was trained.

Once reason her Humvee probably crashed was because Lynch describes herself as in a panic and screaming and cowering and distracting her sergeant in the passenger seat while probably not helping the mood of the female driver who crashed the vehicle.

In other words, you can't prove it didn't happen. You'd much rather shift burden to me because proving it didn't happen means having to use your brain for something other than occupying your ass, along with the rest of your head.

Stop trolling me. You are getting boring fast.

...probably not helping the mood of the female driver who crashed the vehicle.

...and died from her injuries. It would appear Pvt Lynch was not only not adept at firing her weapon, she was all thumbs reading a map because the only reason they were in the wrong place, was they made a wrong turn in the desert.

What makes you so sure she has?

Why don't you just admit the only reason why you are trolling this thread is because like aft_lizard you have no sense of manners or courtesy? It's not okay to be a jerk to someone who could very well have saved your life. Period. And nothing is going to change that.

In other words you dont want to be honest with the rest of FR about what really happened.

Lawyer el-Rehaief tells the sforces where Jessica is. True story. She gets rescued, he gets asylum and gdts a six figure salary for a book about the incident..she is still in the hospital recovering. He goes on TV making up stuff that is refuted by Jessica and people who workedat the hospital in Iraq. He attempts to go to her house..cameras in toe to meet her..while lromoting his book. She says no thanks..but offers to meet him and his family in private without cameras.

Theres your story..the real one. Not your made up fantasy one.

I did enough “Infantry” functions to know to clean my weapon so it wouldn’t jam, and be proficient enough that I could fire it if needed.

What do they teach in Basic Training now?

Yes, the doctor who saved her. It seems there are people here who seem to think he is imaginary. I’d like them to prove it.

And he got absolutely nothing from her in return.

Look doofus or dumbass, It was not a doctor who resulted in her rescue, it was a lawyer....and his reward was amnesty in the United States.....So take your head out of your ass and start smelling the flowers.........

It was only thanks to a courageous Iraqi lawyer, Mohammed Odeh al-Rehaief, that she was saved. According to the Pentagon, Al-Rehaief risked his life to alert the Americans that Lynch was being held.

If she’d only been well-trained enough to charge her M-16, she probably would’ve never been captured and assaulted

I recall that she was part of a Supply unit and their weapons were dirty and poorly maintained.

If MY weapon is dirty and poorly maintained, who is at fault?

I was in military intelligence, a far cry from a STRAC airborne infantry or special forces posting, but our weapons were already clean as a whistle and superbly maintained, as I remember. Strange.

Working Weapons ruin the other guy’s day.

Malfunctioning Weapons ruin YOUR day!
