I can’t imagine! My ortho doc keeps telling me to have a knee replacement. I keep changing the subject.

If you want an accurate weather report for an upcoming storm...call me.

Yes, I’m a coward. Actually, I’m more fearful of the hospital than I am of the surgery. ;(

Bowen is quite heroic in his efforts to honor the fallen.

His ambition and dedication are quite noteworthy.

Think he’ll get an invite to the White Hut or an award?

How marvelous. Sometimes you just need a reason to keep on going. It’s hard to think of a better one. G-d bless him.

Hundreds of thousands are still dying because they served in Nam. Visit any of the national cemeteries and see how many vets are dying young because they served in Nam.

There are people who just love the public’s attention. This is one of them.

Not so, I’m just pointing out that there’s not enough mustard in the world to cover these kind of hot dogs.

You’re too clever by half. Not convincing me.

If he’s been doing this since 1982, why are we just hearing about it now, after 58,000 miles logged? Not exactly a publicity hound now is he? I was a long-distance runner and marathoner for 30 years. It is a long, lonely, solitary slog, attracting no sympathy from regular folk, who mostly think you’re crazy for running hours on end. This guy certainly isn’t a “hot dog, nor is he looking for the public’s adulation or admiration, the “mustard” as you call it. He is doing this as an inner goal for himself, not for the media attention.

BTW, 58,000 miles is equivalent to 2,224 marathons. He deserves more than just “mustard” if you ask me.

Who said Nam Vets weren't dying?

Vietnam veterans are dying at about the same rate as their WW2 fathers.

Is this not a reputable source?

Sorry you think that way.

Not everyone’s motives are selfish, as you would project.

Military who actually served in ‘Nam should be revered, and recognized for their service.

I don’t think that selfishness has a thing to do with this matter; the guy comes across to me as someone who thinks that running (which he would do anyway, I’ll bet) somehow helps those who served in Vietnam, and as a side benefit he gets to be in the spotlight. Please explain to me how this translates into help.

I revere the men who served in all our wars, BTW. I served in the military, just not in wartime. How about you?
