When Rahm Emanual pulled up stakes at Camp Obama and headed home to the Windy City to run for mayor, it seemed like a pretty natural fit. He of the infamous mailing a dead fish and jamming knives in tables incidents was seen as the consummate Chicago Way politician, well equipped to take the top seat in that town. Emanual faces a lot of challenges to be sure, what with a typically collapsing economy, union problems and intra-party warfare, but one of the things he may have underestimated was the metropolitan security / military duties which are part of an urban chief executives responsibilities. Chicago has always had serious gang violence problems, but the recent spates of shootings have highlighted how the city is really melting down and earning a place as the murder capital of the country.

No different than his buddy in DC. Its all fun and games, until you're the one making the decisions. That job ain't as easy as it seemed when you were talking sh*t all that time.
There are two ways Rahm can fix Chicago. One requires him to become a Libertarian and the other is for him to admit he is a Communist. He won’t do either. It was never about the people it was always about power. He has it and he is not going to give even a little away.
It is time we designate each of these murdering “gangs” as terrorist organization and introduce them to federal swat teams and armoured personnel carriers. How Many children must die at the hands of these Black terrorists?
I’d recommend for Chicago the same thing I’d recommend for Mexico. Train and arm the populace. No, not everybody can carry a gun. Some people are crazy. But if you drop the PC and make the call you’d have armed, trained people on every block in the city. Yes, there would be a few innocents shot by well meaning citizens. But it would be WAY less than die now.
You have to be honest about the root of the violence in Chicago and implement something that addresses it, not political sidestepping or PC bull$h!t. Gun control is a kneejerk reaction, not a solution.
Yes that would work but Rahm would have to be granted “temporary” dictatorship of Chicago.
Easy way to fix Chicago. At the next Chicago DNC meeting, two words.
Why would he fix anything? “Never let a crisis go to waste” if there was no crisis what could or would he impose on the public?
He is a fraud and a liar just like his BFF Obama.
Send the blue helmets into Chicago.
In 1968 the blue helmets would have been the Chicago cops busting heads in Grant Park.
Daley Sr. kept his house in order.
Daley Jr. retired when he realized there was no solution to the pension problems and crime.
If it wasn’t for the tremendous amount of money made in Chicago, it would be another Detroit, and it still may end up that way.
But he cancelled his Booker campaign visit to Jersey City.
It is time we designate each of these murdering gangs as terrorist organization and introduce them to federal swat teams and armoured personnel carriers.
Sorry, SADMILLIE, but not a chance. The gangs are the narcotics industry's sales and distribution channel, which supplies millions upon millions of dollars every year to Chicago's lord high politicians.
These are City of Chicago sub-contractors that you are talking about. You think Chicago and Illinois have financial problems now, if they would close down the City run organized crime, Chicago would fold like Detroit within a year.
When are we going to learn that no politician ever fixes anything - the best they can do is make it a little easier for their own self interests.
Royko is spinning in his grave.
Arm the civilian population of Chicago and put wanted dead or alive (preferred dead) bounties on all dope dealers, gang bangers, and assorted thugs. As the body count of these criminals goes up, crime goes down. it IS that simple.
point well made
but to think a democrat can fix anything is just beyond insane.
