Now that Barilla has fully caved to the Gaystapo, I think it's time for a new slogan for their pasta brand. Please add your suggestions.

Your link doesn't work. So, do I have to boycott Barilla now?

The president of Barilla is apologizing for saying that he would never use a gay family in the pasta maker’s ads.

Guido Barilla said in an Italian radio interview that his pasta is for the traditional family and said gay people could eat another pasta if they did not like his message.

“We accept his invitation to not eat his pasta,” said Aurelio Mancuso, president of gay-rights group Equality Italia, in a statement in Italian.

Boycotting Twitter users shared the hashtag #boicottabarilla, or “boycott Barilla.”

But Barilla quickly walked back his comments.

“With reference to remarks made yesterday to an Italian radio program, I apologize if my words have generated controversy or misunderstanding, or if they hurt someone’s sensitivity,” Guido Barilla said in a statement. “In the interview I simply wished to underline the central role the woman plays within the family.”

Gay marriage is not legal in Italy.

He added, “For clarity, I would like to point out that: - I have the utmost respect for anyone, without distinction of any kind.

- I have the utmost respect for gay people and for everyone’s right to express themselves. I’ve also said — and I would like to reiterate — that I respect gay marriages.

- In its advertising, Barilla represents the family - because it’s what welcomes everyone and what has always been identified with our brand.”

What's going on here?

Barilla;s has not "caved" to the gays. There's another thread about how the company has blown off the gay gangsters, if you pardon the expression.

Conservatives everywhere are buying the product in support, ala Chick-fil-A.

Please explain.

Thanks for the link which came too late for my post above.

And here I composed one of my famous poems in Barilla's honor which I posted on the earlier thread this afternoon.

Well, at least I didn't pick up any of their pasta at the store today.

Why would you sell stock? You think their business will do badly, just like Chik-Fil-A did because the owner supports traditional aka “real” marriage? Or thir business would do much better if they had fag “families” in ads, just like Penney’s did after they hired Ellen Degenerates and pushed fags in ads?

Oh, wait....

No there probably aren’t enough gays to effect the bottom line. The problem is that it’s not just gays who will use another pasta.
The surge forward, so to speak, in gay rights issues is not the gays themselves. It’s all the straights that supposrt the gay agenda seeing gay rights groups the same as any other civil rights group.

Thanks to cowards like Guido Barilla it is.

Ironically, Barilla may see a drop in sales and it will be attributed to Barilla's original comments when in fact a drop in sales will more likely happen because normal people are repulsed by Guido's sniveling apology.

I think Chick Fil-A demonstrated that there is enough folks fed up with having things forced on us by the Left. Whether it is a gay boycott, or gun control (see Colorado), the million muslim march( what, 12 folks showed up?) or the racist label. I do believe we are going to see a massive shift to the "right" as a result of all this foolishness ("transgendered" homecoming queens, occupy folks, etc). The problem with that is, the folks who are elected to move us to the "right" will be Republicans.

This is just my opinion..

When I first heard this story and Barilla’s ‘apology’, I thought of the financial problems Penney’s expedienced after it pandered to the less than 2% gay population. Barilla is a fool if he believes pandering to that scant few won’t cost him dearly. I have already read that many gays and gay supporters are not accepting his apology. Add those numbers to the numbers who will boycott because of his pandering and he loses big. His was not exactly a wise business move, but he must now live with it.

I’m really tired of people who have a success/career and decide to let us know what they *think* about political/social issues. As if, I can’t make up my own mind about things.
