New Mandate for FEDS:CUT WORK HOURS to Under 30

Well, in light of the recent decisions our Gov't has made with regard to Obamacare and how many jobs have been cut to part time I have a recommendation for them. Cut your own jobs to 29 1/2 because we are tired of paying for YOUR Cadillac Premium Insurance POlicies while we, the people, are stuck getting inferior insurance, paying MORE premiums (mine went up over 25% while the coverage has decreased)...

Great idea and no insurance subsidy. Same same folks. How about a real budget too? You know, the old fashioned kind where the in-go has to equal the out-go. . Like the rest of us. .

“mine went up over 25% while the coverage has decreased”

Same here.

TO BE FAIR, I believe that many companies are using this event as an excuse to cut costs “because they can”. Just another unintended (or was it actually intentional) consequence of government goobering with the private sector and invariably making things worse.

But, I like the idea of cutting hours to 29 for government workers. Does that mean we get only ~75% of the regulations? The taxes? The hot air? Can the missing 25% be the time that they spend on regulations and onerous laws and not affect critical porn/YouTube time? It’s a start.

Most Federal government positions are salaried-—NOT hourly wage earners.

They don’t punch a time clock & no one records their hours.

IF they get a cut in their hours, they will effectively be getting an hourly pay raise, when calculated in that manner.

Yes, and cut their salaries by half. Cut all federal funding of state and local governments to zero.

Unfortunately at one point your information may have been correct, but no longer.

My husband is salaried, works for the DoD and an online hours worked form must be filled out and submitted. The hours are watched carefully and if they fall below what is required, they are called on it.

In fact, my husband is the one that signs for all his centers’ employees hours. After they fill out their form online, he then has to approve it as submitted or adjust it. From what he has said, this system is in use DoD-wide with even supervisors having to use it.

Also, even though you didn’t say this, many do but we do NOT get a subsidized “Cadillac” health plan. We used to have Cigna which cost us more through the DoD than it did through my private employer but we got Cigna through each employer because mine was doing many layoffs and with 2 we’d be covered if I was laid off. This year we changed to Blue Cross/Blue Shield since our doctors no longer took Cigna. We are paying over $450 per month for the 2 of us.

It’s not like they work that many hours as it is. Nancy has been off work for 2 months and still not back. The Boy Wonder himself vacations, plays golf, flies around on our plane, parties with celebs, caters to his terrorist buddies, entertains his man servants, orders up lobster and kibe beef for Moo, and plays card games while our countrymen are being slaughtered. I didn’t see the Senate slaving over the shut down by putting in any hours yesterday. How many departments are partying at lavish conventions on our dimes?
