At my church, women will frequently leave their purses on the pews while they stroll over to the other side of the church to chat with a friend. Or they’ll leave their purses on the restroom counter while they’re in the stalls. We feel safe at church, but what’s to stop anyone, especially a female thief, from entering the church, acting like any parishioner, and walking off with a purse or lifting the wallet? It’s horrible that we have to be on guard, even in church, but that’s today’s world.
