FULL TITLE: Woman arrested for drunk driving sues after video shows her being strip searched by four officers and tossed naked into a cell
A Chicago-area woman arrested in May for drunk driving is now suing county police for what she says was an illegal, humiliating strip search by four officers that was all caught on video.
Dana Holmes was nearly three times over the legal blood alcohol limit when she was pulled over and taken to county jail, where surveillance footage shows her being pulled to the ground by a female officer and three male officers.
The 33-year-old was stripped completely of her clothes and left naked in a cell alone, where she cried on the floor for several minutes before police tossed her a ‘padded suit.’
Holmes was transported to the county jail by local authorities who made no note of any combativeness. Footage of her DUI arrest released to the media shows her cooperating and the local authorities made no note of her resisting behavior.
However, Lasalle County police say local cops informed them she was ‘being mouthy and causing problems’ according to the Chicago Tribune.
It is at the county jail where things take a turn. Holmes is shown being searched against a wall by a female officer as male officers watch.

It didn’t cost her any money, correct, but it was a violation of her rights. I’m not a big believer in handing out money for simple little things. This is not a simple little thing and I believe the officers involved should pay not only with their jobs but in a monetary award from”them” to her. And as far as the comment about a daughter/ i don’t have to have a daughter, though I do, to imagine how I would feel if this was done to mine. What i don’t want to see happen is if these clowns do get fired all they do is go to work for another department, that happens all the time, they need to really feel some pain for acting this way under the color of authority, them not the taxpayer that hired them.
I understand you opinion on this matter. I just have a different opinion. I do agree with you that the officers should be disciplined - but I don’t think the taxpayers should be. And no money should change hands in this case.

I saw it the way you did. I noticed she was all right when her left leg was lifted. That did not look like a kick when her right leg was lifted. It looked reflexive.
Whether she was drunk or not I can’t tell. She seemed composed, wasn’t stumbling and what I did her say on the videos was not slurred or incoherent.
There is no excuse for her being man-handled the way she was. It looks like the cops were just looking for any excuse to jump her, that it was pre-meditated.
Cops need to stick to their assigned responsibilities:
Collecting money for the Welfare State from innocent citizens attempting to legally go about their day.
Definitely a case of false arrest.

Oh. Well. She deserves everything she got. Causing problems for the poh-lice isn't tolerated anymore.
Is money the only thing you care about? How about dignity and being treated as a human being? Or is it ok for people to treat you any way they please, as long as it doesn’t cost you money?
So we can put a price on someone’s dignity? Will the money magically make her feel better?
