Considering the amount of horrific news we've had to deliver to you this week, we thought it might help to lighten things up a bit -- help cleanse the palate.
So ... remember that baby gorilla San Francisco welcomed into the world this past summer? She doesn't have a name yet, which some readers might consider "bad news." But the good news is that you can help grace this little ape with an identity, at last.
According to the San Francisco Zoo, mom and dad gorilla (using their opposable thumbs?) narrowed the 850 name submissions down to three finalists: Malaika, which means "heavenly messenger" in Swahili; Kenura, which means "joy" in Kikuyu; and Kabibe, which means "little lady" in Swahili
Now, they just need you to pick one of those three.
The Zoo explains how this is name-off is going to work:

The nameless gorilla arrived in the world on July 17, 2013 weighing an adorable 5 pounds. She's reportedly been having a great time getting to know her six family members, and, like most human babies, she's also a huge fan of Sophie the Giraffe. In any event, see if this video inspires a name. Then go vote.

Those names sound like the names blacks give their children nowadays. Isn’t it racist to have such names as the choices?????

I think they need to hold off on any naming until it can be determined if said gorilla is heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, metrosexual, polysexual, transsexual, or transgendered.
Or they could just call her Feinstein and be done with it.
I think they should name her “Gomande” which is Zulu for “Daddy’s Little Money Maker”.
