This is later in the episode. She had originally pulled into the White House, said something to the Secret Service personnel who came up to the car to make her back away from the WH barricades, and then shot back and hit one of them, flipping him onto the hood of her car. Police cars (standing by, I guess) immediately got behind her but she slammed backwards again, rammed one in the side and nearly got the cop standing behind her car, and then pulled forward through the police standing in front of her, scattering them and then setting off at a high speed. She was chased for several blocks, looped around, and came to the barricade at this point (I think she probably believed that she could get into the Capitol) with the police cars pursuing her.
What you are seeing is the final part of the chase. And as for why they shot her, she may have said she was armed, or maybe that she had a bomb (they sent explosives teams to her home), or maybe it was simply because of her earlier behavior. She was delusional and she had an obsession with Obama and thought he was stalking her (well, more than he’s stalking the rest of us, I guess!). But don’t forget that they guy who shot Reagan was also just a nut with a personal obsession and did it because he thought it would make Jodie Foster love him.
I think the raised tensions created by Obama are stirring up the already crazy, which is why we have had so many episodes lately, but I think we still have to remember that crazy is crazy, and when people start acting out like that, it’s never going to end well. Personally, I think it was suicide by cop, not an uncommon thing among people having a psychotic episode.
Crazy lady, doing crazy things, in an environment that is on hair trigger alert. Best way I can put this together.

This looks like footage from the Capitol area. She had already been to the White House. We don’t have any footage from that incident. I would think the government has video, but we don’t know if they will release it or not.

Have there been any reports of a husband or father coming forward? If not, that is a plausible explanation. Reggie Love will be jealous though.
Yes, and for people who think postpartum depression is just what used to be called the “baby blues,” it’s not. It’s a very severe condition - and she also seems to have had some mental problems before that - that often leads to homicides, suicides and very often, the murder of the baby.
The more I read about her, the more it seems to me that she simply had a psychotic episode with a terrible ending. At least the child survived.

Anybody else notice that during all this commotion, this news guy is yelling in Arabic into a cell phone and nobody grabbed him? I thought everyone was out to get the Arabs now?
DC has it’s traffic signal lights mounted on poles at curbside, not overhead. Along with fiendish traffic circles, one-ways, and all the do-nots, it’s easy for someone unfamiliar with the place to screw up.
Then, there’s the automated license plate readers. She could have been flagged in the system for almost anything.
Theoretically, these stations are sponsored by the US so they can’t be used for extremist propaganda. I don’t know anything about this particularly one, though.

Yes, this clip starts with you looking down the approach to the NW steps of the Capitol, towards the traffic circle at the Capitol end of Constitution Ave. I haven't seen any footage of the WH end of this episode.
Another poster asked how al Hura just happened to be there. They were at the Capitol to film the demonstration [shutdown demonstration?]. See the knucklehead with the dollar bill taped over his mouth.
It’s probably pro-Syrian rebel like this admin, and if its anything like NPR and Voice of America it is probably as leftwing as possible.

My husband heard on MSNBC that she was doing 80 down Pennsylvania Ave. and that’s why all the cops were surrounding her BEFORE they pushed her into the WH barricades. I have not heard this anywhere else.
If you look through yesterday’s long thread you will see some earlier cell phone video taken by someone who just happened to be there, probably a tourist or even a reporter, I imagine. It shows her backing up, ramming, zooming forward through the cops, and then part of the chase, where she goes around a traffic circle practically on two wheels.
