Why can't we give Boehner a show of support?

Will you call John Boehner and tell him we support him standing strong?

I voted for Ted Cruz. This is not about Ted Cruz.

right now, we need boehner. It is a fact that he is the speaker. He holds our freedom in his hands.

After this, tar and feather him for all I care.

Thank you Piranha. You get the point.

At this point in time boehner has the power.

If we don't support him, we are just shooting ourselves in the foot...cutting our noses off to spite our face.

I contacted him and told him I was behind the shutdown 100% but I also questioned why anyone in Congress would vote to give back pay to furloughed government workers. Such a thing is unheard of in the private sector. Are they better than us?

I agree with you completely, and you have convinced me to call him with my support. Hopefully others will call also.

Has a speaker ever been tossed out of office before?

I would love to see weakling crybaby Boehner be the first

So, you’re kind of like Obama, right?

Payback before country.

Great idea Kitten! I have been calling since before the shutdown actually occurred, telling him to stand strong behind Ted Cruz and I hope others do.

I’ve also been calling the number the chicken s#$& Harry Reid left on his office’s voicemail. Unlike other congress critters his voicemail says we’re unable to take your calls or emails BUT if this is a FEDERAL EMERGENCY call this number and leave a message.

I called it while my husband stared daggers at me and said this IS a federal emergency whether you think it is or not....and went on from there, explaining exactly what my views are.

Now my husband is living in fear of a knock on the door *laughing*. He believes I shouldn’t have used the federal emergency line :-)

You have way more faith in Boehner than I do.I think ultimately he will screw us and the country.

I sent Boehner a message using his web page just a few days ago and will re-send as needed. I told him I was no fan but if he could change and do what was I right, I could change my opinion of him was well. I put the ball in his court.

For those who just want to blow him away, you might consider what alternatives you propose, and not the pie in sky crap I see posted so often.

That’s a legitimate question. Nothing wrong with it.

I’d kind of like to know myself.

Wow! So deep, so meaningful.

You don't get this at all. boehner is the Speaker right now. He has the power. If he does not stand firm, and if we don't help him do it.

It's Bye Bye Freedom.

Guess you'll really feel smart when that happens.

It's a rare thing for him (Boehner) to display a spine for once

Look what happened. After years of Boehner being Obama's Cave-man, Boehner in this one case listened to Republican HOR members. Cruz made it impossible not to. And what did Obama do? He SAVAGED Boehner, like all of those other compromises Boehner made didn't matter.

Boehner was used to playing the give-and-take game with other wimps. He got played by street thug Obama. After that interview today, where Boehner stood firm, I think our best bet is to thank him. We're not like Obama, whose goal is to destroy someone who was formerly willing to compromise with him.

When people are no longer useful to Obama, he destroys them. hillary better watch her back when Obama decides who he really wants to run for Pres next time...and it won't be hillary.

Boehner are saying the right things now, but I’m still waiting to see if he will deliver. Lying is easy. Obama lies all the time

I saw the change yesterday in people once word started getting around about furloughed federal workers getting fully paid once the shutdown was over. It suddenly became a massive federal vacation, with federal workers getting paid not to work.

Not private contractors, but federal employees. If you supply goods or services to federal workers, or have concession on federal land, or otherwise are greatly affected, tough luck.

To the public, the war is over, and yet again, the federal government beast has won. We have public employees shutting down public sites, ordering people off of unmanned trails, closing parks that require more staff to close than it does to keep open.

With that piece of legislation, we've given up the fight, and the public knows it. The one piece of leverage we had, we gave away.

I'm not sure what there is left to support Boehner on.

Hold on there!

I have NO faith in Boehner. None.

This is why I think we need to call and support him. I don’t think he can do it without such support.

Are we to be so spiteful towards this man, that when he actually does as we wish, that the snark continues?

Boehner is a wimp. He had to be dragged into this fight by the Tea Party conservatives in the House and the American people. If he was any sort of man, he would have been leading this fight right from the start instead of fighting from behind. He has been fighting against the interests of the Tea Party members of Congress since their ascendency in 2010. I still believe he is looking for a way to send a "clean" CR to the Senate as well as lift the debt ceiling to make Obama happy. Then, it is back to "business as usual."

Look at his actions with respect to getting an exemption from Obamacare for Congress and Congressional aides (as revealed by the leaked emails by Reid's chief of staff). This is absolutely disgraceful and at odds with the letter and spirit of the law.

And today, I thought his answers were weak. When Stephanopoulos brought up a "clean" CR, Boehner should have responded by asking where the constitutionally required budget (from the Senate) was? If we had a budget there would be no need for these endless CRs. Why hasn't Boehner ever harped about this in the past? Because old "go along to get along" Boehner had a tanning salon appointment to keep.

And when Stephanopoulos kept referring to Obamacare as being the "law of the land," why didn't Boehner bring up Obama's unconstitutional waivers or how other laws with respect to our borders , immigration and DOMA are repeatedly unenforced by Obama's DOJ.

Don't worry, Boehner will still find a way to snatch "defeat from the jaws of victory."
