Posted on 10/06/2013 7:05:47 PM PDT by Thom Pain
I have seen/heard multiple sportscasters hammering Romo for trying to do too much; lack of judgement; recklessness...
On the replay (from behind the pocket) Romo's left foot was clearly kicked by his lineman's right foot as he attempted the throw. Now, I am not a Cowboy fan, but he is being slammed mercilessly with no mention of what was clearly visible on replay. For goodness sakes, he threw for over 500 yds!
When I'm traveling on business by myself, I grab a seat at the bar (huge bar by the way) and read my Kindle while I drink a couple of tall beers and have a swiss cheeseburger just the way I like it.
Not a fan of the wings however. Way too much gunk on them.
I am a Bronco fan, but feel for Romo and the Cowboys. Romo had a career high game, made 506 yards, 5 touchdowns, and lost.
Romo played a hell of a game. Manning threw an INT as well. But the Cowboys Defense is what blew the game...51 points...you can’t expect to win it. Romo kept them in the game.
A whole lot happened in that game. It was a great game to watch even though the Cowboys lost.
Romo had 506 yards before the last drive. Didn’t the sack knock 7 yards off his total?
It’s not just today. He’s got a long history of sucking. Real bad.
Just checked ESPN. He wqs credited with 506 yds. Only the 15th 500 yard game ever according to the radio guy.
Hey, it was a great game played against the leading team in the NFL and they actually had a chance to win! How can you not respect their attempt?
It actually was a great game!
Naw. The 506 was for passing.
Romo has a long and established history of choking in the big game, or doing something boneheaded on the big play.
perhaps he doesn’t deserve the blame this time, but by now story line has long been established.
And if that was a Manning statistic? Really would you be saying the same...come on.
My only point is that in all the commentary about the game I think they could at least point out that he was thrown off balance by the kick. I, too, think this was a very entertaining game and I saw a lot of great plays made by both teams.
I don’t know about his foot getting kicked, but he had #29 WIDE open right in front of him in the middle of the field. He should have gone there with the ball.
Doesn’t matter, the defender had the position.
Romo is good, but not good enough.
I think the challenge is finding a guy that is clearly better.
A lot of decent teams have that problem, because there are few really elite qbs.
I have no idea what you mean. I just offered my understanding of how total passing yardage is counted.
His QBR was 140
>>For goodness sakes, he threw for over 500 yds!<<
The ‘boys are the same as last year at this point 3-2.
The only stats that matters are W-L.
Romo’s entire career will be: the best 2nd tier QB to never make it to the Big Game.
off rushing yards, not passing yards....
Thanks for letting me know.
>>How can you not respect their attempt?<<
b/c this the NFL and Romo just got a $100 Million contract.
This isn’t T-Ball.
What are you talking about? Stats are kept the same for all QBs......
Poor Romo never gets respect even when he hangs 48.
>>His QBR was 140<<
His W/L is 2/3
I am sure he has Dan Marino’s phone number (although Romo will not even come close to Marino’s career stats).
>> “Romos entire career will be: the best 2nd tier QB to never make it to the Big Game.” <<
Hard for many to follow, but true.
Greatness in quarterbacks requires success.
>>Poor Romo never gets respect even when he hangs 48.<<
There are only 2 stats after a game:
and the Dallas D sucked.
>>and the Dallas D sucked.<<
As did Denver’s
Obvious and true, but lost on the new crowd of fans that over analyze meaningless stats as a part of their fantasy.
Hey, there is an Anti-Cowboy rant going on usually and this seemed to be another one without looking at the statistics. Was a good game and statistics showed that it was that!
>>Obvious and true, but lost on the new crowd of fans that over analyze meaningless stats as a part of their fantasy.<<
People conflate their Fantasy teams with RL teams.
But there are a TON of people who got or chose Romo tonight who have surged in front of their leagues! (lol)
Before the cowboys will return to what they were, I think the owner has to stop meddling in the details, and leave that to the football people.
I prefer mine without Bacon.
As a Cowboys fan, I don’t like Romo. There is a reason he went undrafted out of college. He never faced the pressure in college that a top 25 D1 college qb faces, nor did he receive the same development and coaching. One can see that when he buckles under the pressure of absolutely HAVING to make plays to win with 90,000 screaming fans in the stands. Despite the years at the Cowboys, he just don’t seem to be able to catch up to that in his development.
Having said that, a team should never lose in their own stadium when they score 48 points. This loss is not on Romo, it is on the defense that was softer than cream up the middle, and was always one step behind Manning.
It was a good game to watch. The Cowboys came out like they wanted to prove all the doom prophets wrong, and they very nearly did. I hope they keep playing like this, they won’t be facing Peyton every week, so should win a few.
Nice analysis...and very true.
No, it was the other way around. Romo's left foot contacts his lineman's already planted right foot as he steps into throw.
I don’t know if there was/is an anti cowboy rant going on - but I think you are paranoid of one. That comment was not a pro Peyton anti Romo comment....it was just a clarification that sack yards are taken off rushing stats, not passing stats.
Pithy, sounds arrogantly authoratative, but it’s not true.
...ah, never mind
But I'm sure it actually works for some QB's...
>>Pithy, sounds arrogantly authoratative, but its not true.<<
OK, I increase the matrix to possible outcomes:
0/0 (tie or cancel)
If there are other possible results, I am sure I am not alone in seeing them.
And for Romo, 1/0 0/1 are the entire Universe...
I remember when sports were fun! Seems so long ago now!
I didn’t see the replay
I just thought Romo was being Romo
Clinching defeat from the jaws of victory and all that
didn’t football used to involve running backs??
