Great article by Kevin Hassett and Abby McCloskey of American Enterprise Institute in Friday WSJ opinion page regarding this. Long history of Congress using debt limit as a negotiating tool. And it is bipartisan. Democrats responsible for 60% of ‘dirty’ increases, i.e when debt limit was raised alongside other legislative items.
They also point out that ACA was passed under ‘reconcilation’ which is a process used ONLY for budget measures. So the Republicans tying Obamacare funding to budget is reasonable.
Maybe if they’d get a job and have to pay for everyone else’s benefits like we have for years their views might change. Coup my a$$, the Republican Party is trying to keep you from having to pay outrageous insurance premiums that you can’t afford and are much higher than they said they would be and penalties that will keep rising. They’re also trying to get Obamacare defunded because it’s destroying family supporting jobs and going to get everyone chipped and monitored you idjits. The Republicans have repeatedly tried to negotiate with the president but he won’t budge. He’s created an insurance monopoly in effect and I’m sure big money has been paid to people in high places to broker this deal. Liberals need to question the motives of their Master occassionally. This isn’t all about you; this is about him and it will benefit only him not you.
The system in this case IS working. WE the people hold the purse strings, in the house. We the people DO NOT WANT Obozo care, so WE the people don’t fund it.

Those wingnuts need to read up on some history. If the Republicans fail at this, the Democrats will seize power for a very, very long time. The first ones to “go” usually are the loyal (cannon fodder) supporters so the party can establish iron clad rule; THEN the party will take out opposition in full force.
