Leftist mantra: What's in it for me?
World Net Daily ^ | 10/12/2013 | Patrice Lewis

I have often wondered at the rift between the left and the right. The division is not just in politics, though that’s wide enough. There are also differences in matters of morality, work ethic and self-control. Frankly, I don’t ever see that gap closing.

What this comes down to is that I simply do not understand the logic of the progressive mind. And I say this as a former progressive – I was a good little liberal when I was in college, but maturity and adult understanding has eradicated all liberalism from my bloodstream to the point where I view my younger self with pity.

Thanks Patrice. Another fine piece that folks "could" share with libs except that they still wouldn't get it. But we gotta keep tryin'. The all take and no give can't last forever. Thanks to our all inclusive divider (contradiction in terms) king hissy fit for causing more hate and anger than I've ever seen.

good commentary. It all comes down to worldview - the lenses through which we all see and process the world and our experiences. Liberals and Conservatives see just about everything differently. That is why in our discussions with them, we often feel like we are from an entirely different planet. I think it is also a spiritual blindness. As Jesus said about certain people who had eyes but couldn’t see, it seems to me that Liberals so often can’t see or even acknowledge if they do see what is right before their eyes.

Yup. And there’s a lot of folks blinded here in Reno. Kind of comical to see so many cars at the casinos with obie/biden-my-time stickers still on them from the ‘08 fiasco with the ‘12 stickers right next to them. Our tax dollars at work? Well, the Lord does work in mysterious ways and I’ll be darned if I can figure it out some times. LOL!

I like how Rush puts it: conservatism is a way of life, it isn’t a set of policies.

I know exactly what you are saying. I was very hopeful during the last election because I saw so few bumper stickers for Obama. During the 2008 election the stickers were everywhere. I was hopeful that more people could see what he was doing to our country. I was totally wrong. The numbers barely changed. In talking to some of these people who still have their 2008 and 2012 stickers it is impossible to get them to acknowledge any flaw in their savior, the lord Obama.

Regarding the Lord working in mysterious ways, this is not the Lord. But He is allowing us to make choices contrary to Biblical values and then allowing us to live with the consequences of our foolish and evil choices. We are at a crisis point now because a majority of the folks would rather follow Obama than follow the Lord.

Conservatives should understand that many liberals do not believe or understand the idea of creating your own economic circumstances. Many of them firmly believe that by enriching yourself and your family, you are probably oppressing other people.

For instance, you open a business and start hiring formerly unemployed people at a minimum wage. Did you give them a job...an opportunity to make money and achieve a little respect? No, you're oppressing them because you're not giving them a living wage, full medical benefits, and two months vacation. In the lib universe, it's impossible for someone of lowly economic status to improve themselves. The state must step in an ensure that everyone achieves that chimera, social justice. That's the mind of a liberal...the glass is always half empty.

I think it is often easier to reason with a mentally retarded person. I guess that is why someone came up with the term “libtard”.

I think the difference in worldview is more fundamental than that.

Liberals view the world as fundamentally a good place. Peace, freedom and prosperity are what happens naturally. War, strife, tyranny and poverty exist only because bad people caused them to happen. Stomp on the bad people and good things will happen of themselves.

Conservatives, of course, know that exactly the opposite is true. That war, tyranny and poverty are the default human condition. That rising above this level requires constant effort by humans and that the fall back into it always threatens.

This is why liberals think there is a “chilling effect” on speech with even the slightest interference with public sex, but that onerous requlations on business activity has no effect on the wealth society produces. Wealth happens by itself, so we don’t have to worry that our regulations will hamper it.

"wealth happens"

That little summation of lib-thought is not far from reality. I have a very liberal step-daughter who firmly believes it's just a matter of business cycles. Now she's a lawyer who has a minor in economics and thinks she knows it all. I have a difficult time not laughing in her face when she goes on about how wealth is created. Yeah, just business cycles...taxes, government regulations, spending...what are those things? Just trivial. She's a very nice person however who's done good things for me, but sometimes I really have to bite my tongue hard. She's very touchy about people disagreeing with her, and my wife wants to keep seeing her grandchildren. So do I.

re: Liberals view the world as fundamentally a good place.

The only problem as they see it is that it has too many conservatives and Christians. Now if they could only get rid of those people .......

Right. As I said, liberals view all the problems in the world as being caused by the intentionally evil acts of bad people. Get rid of the bad people and everything will be wonderful.

What I am trying to point out is that liberals often don’t identify truly evil people as evil. Hence Obama’s hesitancy to call terrorists terrorists - unless they are right wing of course. Hitler they do have a problem with. But Stalin and Lenin and Pol Pot and Mao - mass murderers inspired by communism, well that is another matter. Cooperating with dictators is easier for liberals than with Republican in congress (unless they are dealing with RINOs like McCain who will give them anything they want).

Yeah she sounds real nice.

She also sounds like a bo-ni-fied liberal.

the 2012 elections was STOLEN

I never saw so many people in line as I did last election.

And people were OPENLY discussing how they could not wait to vote against Obama

But then some woman I never saw in town before went up to vote, put her ballot in, and for some unknown reason YANKED it back out. This jammed the machine! (it unbelievable they could break so easy)

Then she walked out- did not ask for a new ballot, had no care about breaking the machine, just wanted to get out fast.

Everyone behind her had to put our ballots in the ‘emergency box’... The next day I read the resuts for our district (very republican) and votes tally was the same as always (despite the large crowd) and event split for Obama - he LOST this section of town last time.

It seems it is easier to PREVENT votes than it is to manufacture fake ones.

THIS ELECTION WAS STOLEN

AND the many districts with 110% vote turnout prove it.

And the incompetent boobs at the GOP let it happen.

You help People who CAN’T help themselves, not People who WON’T help themselves.

The EBT Card fiasco that happened today proves it. It won’t be World War Z, it will be World War EBT when it really collapses.

Very interesting account. As you said, “And the incompetent boobs at the GOP let it happen.”

Yes, outrage after outrage occurs, and those who supposedly represent us can barely raise a meek and mild voice of protest if they say anything at all. Most of our Republican politicians only seem willing to talk tough when they are running for election or fundraising. As soon as they are in office they act as if they have been neutered. While Democrats act like pit-bulls for their agenda, most Republican politicians act like Basset-hounds for theirs. What is it with Republicans anyway that makes them so weak?
