London-based sculptor Ron Mueck, formerly a model maker and puppeteer for children's television and films, has been creating fine art sculptures since 1996. Using resin, fiberglass, silicone, and many other materials, Mueck constructs hyperrealistic likenesses of human beings, while playing with scale.

Remarkable. Usually, I like art to be beautiful. But there is a kind of beauty in his realism, I guess. In any case, I’d love to see the originals.

There was/is an American Sculptor, John Deandrea, who has been doing similar hyperrealistic sculpture for decades...just not quite on the same scale as this guy, but impressive in their own right.

Thanks, interesting. I like this guy’s more diverse subject matter, but Deandrea has some beautiful work.

Yes. Good art can portray sadness and even ugliness -- but in a sensitive and beautiful manner. These sculptures are stunning.
