The drug is made of readily available ingredients such as codeine, iodine and toxins such as gasoline, industrial cleaning oil, lighter fluid and paint thinner. Users filter and boil ingredients together, then inject the drug.
The results are catastrophic.

It looks like to be the meth of the opiate world. In that it’s something that can be cooked up in small labs, and involves a slew of dangerous chemicals that are as potentially deadly (or even more so) than the primary drug itself.
Nasty stuff.

Maybe someone here on FR can enlighten me, but I was the under the impression that codeine is a Schedule II narcotic; where are the getting the codeine from in order to make this?
Sure, here in the Czech Republic, I can get codeine over-the-counter no problem; I can go to any drugstore and buy it no questions asked. But in the US I didn’t think that was possible.
And suddenly, the concept of a zombie apocalypse is entirely plausible.

Call me callous (I am), but I have zero sympathy for anyone dumb enough to inject themselves with poison. I know that as a young man I never would have done anything so stupid.
Think of it as a form of Darwinism that is acting as a cleansing tool to rid society of these unthinking beings, hopefully before they reproduce.

There’s been a few cases here in the Czech Republic of this Krokodil, and a few in Poland as well. I’m not sure about Ukraine, and getting any legit info out of Belarus is laughable at best.
It’s a MAJOR problem in Russia. Krokodil is the ultimate nightmare drug that would’ve been dismissed as implausible not that long ago.
How can this drug be a problem? It is cleaning up the vermin from the streets.

Nope, Codeine is Schedule II, Tylenol or Aspirin with Codeine is Schedule III, Tylenol with Codeine liquid is Schedule V.
In that one of the primary hazards of impurities in the drug is gangrene caused by tissue necrosis at the injection site.
On the plus side, the human nose is attuned to gangrene like few other odors, and once you smell it, you never forget the smell. This means that diagnosis is usually very easy.
Just another of nature’s way to thin the gene pool. I just hope treating these morons on our dime doesn’t break us.
That said, if it did, it would be part and parcel of obozo’s plan to destroy America.

On the plus side all these homemade drugs should reduce the impact of the “war on drugs”. I’m not making light of the impact of these drugs but without various cartels, and gangs to fight the drug warriors can leave the rest of us alone.
The zombie culture is partially promoted to desensitize people and prepare them for such an attack.
Indescribably bad. I mentioned how the human nose is attuned it. They say that when a hospital patient has a strong case on the fifth floor, people can smell it on the first floor.
Because of its relative rarity, it at least used to be that when a case happened, doctors would come from miles around just to catch a sniff of it, so they could instantly recognize it in the future.
Ironically, during the Civil War, Union Army hospitals were a lot cleaner than confederate hospitals, but often had a higher mortality rate. In the South, flies would often lay eggs in the wounds, and their maggots would eat only the necrotic tissue, and thus prevent gangrene. But in the North, wounds were cleaned (if not sanitized), and dressed; which gave gangrene a chance to form.
It reminds me of hobos drinking wood alcohol and anti-freeze.
