So, at halftime of the Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington REDSKINS, Bob Costas decided to lay down some wisdom on America. He started out okay in his discussion of Obama's new pet project, to pressure Washington into changing the name of the football team, but almost at the end when you were suffiently sucked in, he threw out the bombshell.....the use of the term "Redskins" is indeed offensive...a nasty slur.
And there you have it. Just like Global Warming, um, I mean Climate Change, the debate about the term "Redskins" is now settled science. Expect for Washington to be changing their name very soon.
If they did change the name, many of the fans will want all the new gear with the new name on it, which might make their decision for them. Is anyone else using the names pussy, hummingbirds or transgenders?

Turned it off as fast as I could. Serves me right for watching anything on NBC. I won’t be making that mistake again.

MOST (not all, but by far, most) traditional paleface references to American Indians by “Redskin” have been in unambiguous honor of these American Indians.

They should call it Kennedy, Sharpton, Clinton, Obama, or something more apt.
Certainly the "D.C." part should be pronounced like the word "disease".
Bob Costas creeps me out. He is the worst announcer on TV and has outlived his welcome by a decade or more.

What idiots like him don’t understand is name like Redskins or Indians or Warriors is meant as a sign or admiration - They are trying to put forth a image of being tough, being fighters so how the F is that “insulting”? This is just more pc crap by the fascists.

Little Bobby just wants attention. The best thing to do is to totally ignore him. If he’s so offended by the name “Redskins,” he should buy the team and name it any PC thing he wants. Put your money where your constantly-flapping mouth is, Bob.
No one talks about a name change except for Progressive sports talkers.
If the want to change the name of DC’s football team, I propose the Washington Red Droners
