When over the weekend, a Xerox "glitch" shut down the EBT system, better known as foodstamps, for nearly the entire day across 17 states leaving millions without "funding" to pay for food leading to dramatic examples of the basest human behavior possible, some of the more conspiratorial elements saw this merely as a dress rehearsal for what may be coming in the immediate future. While there was no basis to believe that is the case, a USDA (the currently shuttered agency that administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) memo obtained by the Crossroads Urban Center in Utah carries in it a very disturbing warning for the 46+ million Americans currently on foodstamps.
To wit: "understanding the operational issues and constraints that States face, and in the interest of preserving maximum flexibility, we are directing States to hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice." In other words, as Fox13News summarizes, "States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice."

Absolutely bring it on! WIC is good for kids, but SNAP is a gigantic black hole of peed-away money.

Further more, we can't be held ransom by these animals. They will continue to extort more and more protection money. It's like giving the bully your milk money. At some point you just gotta roll your hands into a fist, say no and take whatever is coming your way.

Indeed. As a simple matter of fact, the most obese nation in the history of the world does not need more free government food.
Moreover though, I myself want to see the result. I want the blatant corruption to end. I want people to learn that the nanny-state is not the answer. I want to see Americans give more power to their state and local governments, and learn to trust themselves and non-governmental institutions more.
I know people who are on socisl security disability and senior citizens who receive food stamps because of their pensions lost due the stock market fiasco. These people are takers hey need a helping hand. I am a conservative so do not scream at me and call me a taker. I am just saying there are some people who get Snap who have no alternative. Lets just say they do not get lots EBT funds though.

I say end the foodstamp program now. I'm sure the legit cases will be provided for through private charities. If my taxes were halved tomorrow, I'd definitely throw a few bucks to my local church soup kitchen and so would many others.
The states have never granted Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for welfare purposes, including foodstamps. Corrupt federal lawmakers just use such porgrams to buy votes from low-information voters.
Welfare recipients need to work with their state lawmakers to establish state welfare programs.
Deputize them and they can help run out all the illegals....Ike did it.

What convenient timing for a “glitch”. This was a beta test and no doubt the results were pleasing to those who ordered it. They’re 48-72 hours away from widespread riots and declaring martial at any time.

The cost of my groceries has increased by around 20% in the past year. Last night my wife and I decided we’re going to start eating soup and salad two nights a week. We’ve already cut out the desserts.

Many of those same Conservatives and Republicans are like me and would not shed a tear if the rest of the teat suckers, who are the vast majority who need a hand out because of their own piss poor life choices, starved to death. It would be a much needed cleansing of the gene pool.

My favorite thing is, when I’m at Sam’s. I’ve got four items in my cart and there are the sponges with the pull carts packed to the hilt, with chips, cookies, cold dranks, ribs, chicken, pickles and fruit punch. Then they whip out that EBT card.
Yes, indeed - get off your butts and get a job. Businesses are clamoring for full-time workers right now since the economy is moving along so briskly.

If this happens the grocery stores will need immediate security - national guard?? A food riot is the quickest riot to start. Sickening - cutting off food aid and yes some of it is legitimate - while the spite house vegetables rot.
