California mom Maria Kang posted a Faceook photo of herself showing off six-pack abs in a sports bra and shorts posing with her three sons aged 3, 2 and 8 months, alongside the caption “What’s Your Excuse?” and the backlash has been extreme.
The photo has received more than 12,000 Facebook shares and 16,000 comments. Most of them have not been complimentary and accuse Kang of mocking overweight mothers.
"I don't feel this motivates people all that much, it's sorta just a prideful brag thrown onto Facebook in front of many women's faces just to tease and mock them," wrote one critic.
"Right...I'm sure she has a nanny doing all the work while she works out all day," commented another.
Another commenter suggested "something like - 'You Can!', 'It's Achievable!', 'It's Worth It!', would make more of a statement that appeals to more women without assuming we all are making excuses!"
Kang, 32, has gotten used to all the negativity.

She did a great job, of getting into shape after having children, so kudos to her.
This woman has nothing to apologies for.She’s just encouraging people to get off their butts and exercise.
I’m not sure why she felt moved to post the caption with the picture but I certainly admire her reponse to those who reacted negatively.
She’s really working the publicity on this brilliantly. Millions who would have never heard of her now know about her business because of all these apologies.
Good genes. She should have more kids!
My stunning wife of 41 years gave me 8 incredible kids, and always returned to a size 4 in 6 - 9 months after birth, mostly she says due to nursing that just sucks the fat off. But I know it was also from her chasing the other small ones, eating well, and walking a mile a day to our mailbox and back. No gym.
Yes, still a 4 - on some dresses - 6 max on some......

Too many people were “embarrassed” by God’s Word’s definition of the best roles for man and woman.
I’m pretty sure either Kang or Kodos would do a better job.
Kudos to her. She doesn’t even mention that her husband has a traumatic brain injury from either Iraq or Afghanistan. I heard that in a foxnews interview this morning. She’s ok in my book.
