I need help. This started about a week ago. I click a headline to read the article and when I return to the article index it has updated to a different place and loads all article headlines that have posted while I was reading. Can anyone tell me how to stop this and make it the way it was? i. e. return to where I left.
What browser are you using? It’s in your browser settings - whether you check for updates every time you visit or only once per session unless you refresh/reload.
Using Maxthon. Thanks, will check out my settings.
Pretty sure you just holler, “Stop this world!!!!! I want to get off!!!”
Press Shift before you leave for the other site???
Stop trolling Free Republic.
All Freepers know how to fix this.

In before “Are you logged in.”
Ahem, are you logged in?
Its best in general to allow pages to update every time, but if you wish the main page to be held, just open the article in a new tab.
MaxThon?
Does it have a FReepathon ignore feature?
LOL
(Just kidding)

Have you tried turning your computer off and on!
‘Right click’ at your article link and scroll to “Open link in new window”
Hello - Can you open multiple tabs or windows?
Hover over the title of the article you want to read and right-click, then choose “Open in new window/tab”
That way the article opens (in a new tab or window) but the forum does not update, and you can refresh (F5) the individual articles for new replies.
Hope that helps - I might have forgotten something.
Thanks all, it’s doing what I want with the new tab trick.
Use tab browsing and right click on the article to open a new tab. Read it from the new tab. Then when you go back to the original page, it will be right where you left it.
When you do this, it also keeps the original page from re-downloading saving both download time and transferred bytes.
Works with most browsers.
When you want to click on a thread link, simply use the center mouse wheel/button. In FF that will open a new tab. I think it works in IE. That way the original list of threads tab is left untouched.
