After its shock reveal at the New York auto show, the 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 stands as one of the most anticipated machines of the year. GM promised new heights of performance, and an unrelenting dedication to make the car worthy of its legendary name, and challenge some of the world's best. We got the chance to take a Z/28 deep dive at GM's Milford Proving Grounds, and ride shotgun in one of its development mules on the venue's test track. Is it everything that was promised?

Some of the comments are good;

And all this for a mere 20 times the MSRP, of the original Z28. While the original Z28 was made so that a regular working guy could have an awesome fast car for driving to work, cruising on summer nights, and taking to the track on weekends, this new one is made for the upper income/enlarged prostate/country club/AARP member type to stash in his garage, wax monthly, show off to his golf buddies, and flip at Barrett-Jackson in a couple of years for a killing.

Meh, today’s average working guy can afford something fast, it just won’t appreciate and it requires occasional parts / work.

18436572 - Firing order of GM V8 engines. I know that because I was a GM guy for my entire previous life. Loved Chevy.

Now, I couldn't care if they sold this Z for $1, I'll never touch a another GM vehicle as long as I live.

If we lived in a just world, they'd be out of business and the CEO would be found hanging in a janitor's closet.

The one on the right cost about 4,000 new.
$4,000 of 1969 dollars would be worth: $25,477.71 in 2013. So the new one is bit pricey.

Have a buddy with a newer Camaro, 2011. It’s already starting to rust as paint has just chipped away by itself where there are no dents. The interior trim is starting to fall off and he’s had to bring it in several times for a timing problem which seems to crop up all by itself, even after it’s been “fixed.” GM is doing nothing for him on the rust and paint.

Government Motors can go screw themselves. Even when I rent cars now I will choose the company that can promise I will not end up with a Government Motors vehicle.

I bought a v6 2013 mustang with the performance pkg for 23K, best bang for the buck - ever. I special order the 3:31 rear end. The car is well built, good looking fast and rear wheel drive.

I was a Mopar man. My favorite was a '66 Dodge Dart with GREAT torque out of a little 225 with a 1 barrel Holley.

The new Fiat/dART is not even a good fake. It is everything that the Dart wasn't, and nothing that it was. Where is the modern Dart or Newport? A no frills car that just runs and has lots of room for the family in its class?

Besides my various Darts, I also had a Diplomat, a Chrysler 5th Avenue, and a 1965 Chrysler 300 2 door hardtop coupe.(383, 4 barrel, 330 hp ... the BASE model)

And how would a 'regular working guy' have been able to get his street machine on the track on a weekend?
