It was once said that Politics and War make for strange bedfellows. When it comes to the Republican Party establishment, one such example is Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). Norquists prominence today very much includes a ride on Ronald Reagans coattails. The 40th Presidents name is invoked in the very first sentence of Grovers bio on ATRs website.
Like Senator John McCain (RINO-AZ), when it comes to the fight waged by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) over Obamacare recently, Norquist would rather fight Cruz than the Democrats, despite the fact that Cruz has been fighting against what the Supreme Courts Chief Justice said was a tax. In an interview with Nora Caplan-Bricker of the left-wing New Republic, Norquist mocked Cruz with analogies that put him on the side of the Republican establishment.
The establishments disgust for Cruz is not about disagreeing with his strategy; its about Cruzs ability to unleash the power of the conservative base. Its an engaged contingent of America that the establishment including Norquist fears. There are many reasons why the Republican establishment wants to defeat this group many reasons. One such reason is what it doesnt want to be exposed about itself.

I’m glad to see Norquist getting some attention. Might explain why McQueeg and others are falling over themselves to prove that they’re more friendly to terrorists than Obama.
The GOP establishment needs to sit down and shut up.
Seriously.
Sit down. Shut up.
You mean Grover the Jihadist? That Grover?
Oh no not Again! Has he already signed up for his Obamacare?
Will Obama care Cover his mental illness and 12 personalities?
I hope so, this poor man needs some help. He reminds me of the movie, the 12 faces of Eve.
I suspect he’s the one who comes up with the “reasonable” gun control ideas that come out of the NRA every so often.
The first step in curing oneself is to admit that a problem exists. The Republican Party refuses to publicly admit that it is not conservative and does not, as a whole, exist to defend the Constitution. It exists to cement its power, just like the Dems. The established Republican Party is very comfortable breaking bread with Liberals if the Libs will let them sit at the table with those advertized as “the big folk” and not shun them socially. The Jeffersonian wing of the Republican Party, currently under the title of “Tea Party”, hasn’t been a serious force for several decades. And, based on recent Congressional action, is still not. I confess that when Bush II was in office I was blinded to that fact. It took the current administration to remind me that no law should ever be enacted unless you are willing to have your worst enemy enforce it.
Slight correction...The GOP(e) needs to RETIRE.
I can’t stand seeing Grover Norquist’s name in the news. WHY? WHO THE HELL IS HE?? Some retread. He’s irrelevant. He must be Rove’s lap-dog for the media attention he gets.
Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
Groan.
Could be. The muslim islamic loving scum Norqist is an NRA board member...
