MSN ^

Texas high school coach Tim Buchanan benched his starters after only 21 plays, kept to a conservative ground game and even allowed the clock to run uninterrupted after halftime to hasten the final whistle. Still, his Bearcats won 91-0.

Now the coach is facing formal accusations of bullying.

The only thing worse than getting beat 91-0 is having daddy file a bullying complaint.....the other coach should have been all over the place distancing himself from this!!!

Of the 40 points scored in the 2nd half - the defense scored 34 of them. What do you do ... not pick up a fumble and run it in? That parent is a loser squish.

I think both teams should get six points when a touchdown is made. And they should share their Gatorade and encourage bottom patting. Do they make face guards that allow openly gay kissing?

They couldn’t even score against the bench warmers in the whole second half. What were they supposed to do, put in the cheerleaders?

I think this father needs to hear a quote from Paul Newman in Slapshot.

If the young men were afraid of losing games, why did they go out for football? What was the coach supposed to do, forfeit the game?

Western Hills coach John Naylor told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he disagreed with the bullying allegation, which Buchanan said suggested his coaches "should have made their players ease up and quit playing that hard." Naylor did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment Tuesday.

As a former player and coach, there's one of the problems right there. At no time should a coach ever tell a player to 'ease up'. That is dangerous and puts both teams at risk of injury. You play hard each down to the whistle.

Would they have felt better if the Aledo cheerleaders suited up and scored a few more touchdown against them? Maybe the Aledo chess club could have run up the score... and they only move one man at a time when they play offense.

Maybe he could enroll his kid in a more appropriate non-bullying sport, like rhythmic gymnastics, or solo synchronized swimming for boys. Or pass a law that criminalizes scorekeeping in football.

If obama had won by a vote count of 98% to 2, would he consider that bullying?

Didn’t think so.

His THIRD team was still too much for them to handle.

There are many high schools in the Metroplex that are fed by their youth football programs, and I'll bet that Aledo has such a program.

It's no surprise that a 3rd or even 4th string would do well against a lesser opponent. These players likely have upwards of 5 years and more experience in the offensive and defensive schemes used by the HS coach.

On my son's U-12 team, each player is issued a scaled-down version of the playbook used by the HS, with an additional emphasis on terminology. When he plays on the freshman team in 3 years, he'll have 4-5 years experience in the Coppell way of doing things.

The advantage over schools that don't have these programs is enormous.

Games like this teach the children that life isn;t always fair and there is nothing you can do about it but finish the game....

Ending the game early is just another form of bailout...

“Steel sharpens steel.” The winning team didn’t learn anything from this game. The first string players didn’t even get much playing time. And what did the losing team learn? How to get their behinds beat? Looks like they’ve been getting that lesson a lot this year. This was an absolutely useless game that did more damage than good. I don’t fault the winning coach. He did his job. I fault the Athletic Director and the School Board at the losing team. There’s nothing that says they have to field a football team. Don’t field one until you can compete. If you can’t compete, don’t field a team. There’s no good lessons that come from getting whipped by 91 points. One of our local high schools is following the De LeSalle model. They’ve built a powerhouse high school football program. You know how many of their kids received a football scholarship last year? One. To an in-state public school. And he almost didn’t get in because of grades. The little guy football program is tied in with some of the coaches coaching in both programs. Years of up at 4:30 am to lift weights. Year round training. Mandatory college camps. Probably more than 40 high school coaches. And they produced one scholarship player.

What do you expect from squishy, stupid liberal cowards?

Same kind of sh*t you get when you affirmative action some idiot like Colin Powell to general that tells GHW Bush to order the military to “lighten up” when they were punishing the Iraq army at the end of the Gulf War because it was a fish-in-a-barrel whooping and he thought “it looked cruel on TV”.

How do liberals think you tell the kids to play their best and hardest and then punish them for success? Oh yeah, they don’t think. Same mentality of idiots in both “parties” that want to means test Social Security.

if i awas thge winning coach, i’d have called the game at about 49, not because of the feelings of the other team, but the fact it’s clear playing a game with tat team was a waste of time for my players. he did everything to make it easier for the other side to get in the game, and they never did.

how bout ripping the losing coach for doing such an awful job with his team players.?
