Seattles city council voted unanimously Monday to use eminent domain to take private property. They say they must seize the private property, which is currently being used as a parking lot, in order to turn it into a parking lot.
In this case, they decided it was critically important to seize a parking lot from its 103-year-old owner so that it can be a parking lot. At least this is their stated justification.

We no longer own our property. They can take it at will and pay us nothing, and if we don’t pay our annual rent payment, well.. They will take it then to.
Getting more tax money for the greater good? Seems like the City is trying to stick it to the man; except the City is the man, so they’re sticking it to themselves.
"They paved my parking lot and put up another parking lot"
>>Time for Joni Mitchell to sing a new song.
“Look what they did to my lot, ma!”

City council voted for eminent domain.
Nothing to do with back taxes.

Seattle is the only town in the world where I have ever seen people urinating in the gutter openly.
Pure theft
SCOTUS did rule that cities can take away your house and give it to 7-eleven if they thought they would get more tax revenue from the deal.
After the reset, we need to put “eminent domain” on the Naughty List along with “Ex Post Facto” law, “Bills of Attainder”, and “Corruption of Blood”.
Also, “Adverse Possession”, which means that if you tress pass on another’s property long enough, you can call it yours.
According to the article at the local news, they are compensating her, but she didn’t want to sell in the first place.
Government knows no bounds when coupled with a strong liberal majority.
Can’t find the thread but I saw it a couple of years ago where the property seized through the Kelo Decision now sits vacant.
Gov’t will take organs by FORCE for Congresswomen
and their staff. BY FORCE and without consent
because of failure to pay “fines” to the Tyrant.
SCOTUS already approved it for real estate,
and for mere whim.
