Twenty thirteen was a distressing year. The President handed the foreign policy of the United States over to the KGB. Who knows, perhaps next year he will hand over domestic policy to Monaco.
Nevertheless, 2012 was no blowout. We have firm control of the House, and a good shot at the Senate next year. We have 54 percent of the state legislatures and 60 percent of the governors’ mansions. Finally we are poised to take the White House in 2016 with appealing candidates ranging from New Jersey to Wisconsin, from Florida to Texas, all of them smart, experienced, principled, articulate, and even telegenic.

I notice a lot of that going around lately. Among the conservatives I know, only the most congenitally and relentlessly optimistic remain so, and most are walking around sullen and steaming mad....at this or that or the other...but I know better....because I know them better. The relentless dis-spiriting campaign is definitely having the intended effect. It’s everywhere.
Not wanting to start anything, mind you.

The thousands of americans documenting and decrying the flameout of 0bama’s only “accomplishment” is heartening.
I keep trying to remember that they WANT us dispirited & ready to give up. Still, there’s just so much meanness on the other side. I’m hanging in there for now. But I still feel really crappy about all the nonsense!

Every positive action you personally make to try to avoid what is almost inevitable and an emminent situation, a violent civil war in the USA, is a step that will help make you “feel” better, when the S does HTF.
If you live in a big city, move. Now.
There is not much you can do about the current crop of “leaders’ in DC, and I wouldn't count on the chance to “vote” them all out of power in 2014.
Start small,think local and pray as hard as you can.
“We the people” of the USA are now merely inches and days, not miles and months away, from enduring the violent horrors that average, normal citizens of Egypt, Libya, Syria and many other nations in absolute turmoil in the rest of the world are currently enduring.
I am doing. I’m on the executive council of the local GOP, the Republican Women’s group, Oathkeepers, as well as the local Americans for Prosperity group. I help with petitions and a number of other activities. Still, the average age of the GOP around here seems to be 75, and the number of others active in AFP & the other groups is dwindling.
I do pray. But some days I feel like Sisyphus rolling that stone up the hill. And the people we are fighting are so unbelievably obnoxious and arrogant. Perhaps that will be their downfall.
I pray for strength and serenity.
I fear for my child and grandchild. The America they are inheriting is a shadow of what I knew when I was young.

Pseudo Union type system run by paid operatives, all deceptive, liars and cheats.Snake oil salesmen.If they depended upon repeat business, they would have failed, as they did, obviously.
Wholly dishonest and definitely nothing I will ever associate myself with again.
I agree with the Republican Party Platform.
It's just that few to none of the paid leaders in the local volunteer “organization” seemed to pay any attention to any Republican ideals or goals, except raising money by any means.
And most of the candidates acted the same.
You should seek out some local TEA Party activists and ask for an honest evaluation of your associations.
It won't be pretty, but you might find more support from local citizens who are conservatives who trend Republican, if you actually conduct yourselves as Republicans.
Sorry if I sound bitter, but there seems to be some sort of mental block in the minds of the GOPers I encountered against conducting themselves in an honest and open manner.
Must be the prolonged proximity to politicians.
Sure and as soon as repubs gain total control they can really get to work on pushing the democrat agenda.
I’m lucky in that the GOP Chair we just elected is a TEA Party person. Our group is small, and most of those active are Tea-partiers. The old guard is honorable, but just too old to do much anymore. And they really just can’t comprehend how bad things are. We are on the verge of a communist take-over. It’s too shocking for most to believe.
In the early 1980s, I was stationed in Germany.
I lived for a time in a small village, miles (kilometers) away from base.
I accepted a dinner invitation to the family home of a civilian employee my age. Nice, normal woman, no different from the civilians stateside I had casual friendships with as a “transient” person in their community.Other than the obvious language and culture differences.
Her grandfather was a violinist, and was , in his words, “forced to play his violin for Hitler”.
He kept thanking me for saving his extended family,and apologizing for not resisting, and explaining he didn't understand what was happening to his country at the time, because he was just trying to live his life.
I was extremely uncomfortable, because I myself had done nothing to earn any praise. I hadn't even been born, when he was freed from forced government compulsion.
My friend, his grandchild, explained to me that he had never had a chance to thank anyone from the USA in person, and I was selected to be the one, since she knew me, and thought I would respectfully let him say whatever he wanted to say, before he died.
(I would have appreciated a heads-up on that task)
The point of sharing that story is:
The “old guard” is no less honorable than they ever were, today. Most of them do understand exactly what is at stake, probably more than “we” do.
The honorable among them might appear to have difficulty comprehending the true extent of the decay/rot in the USA government and society, mostly because they have children and grandchildren constantly feeding them lies and assurances that the next generation knows what they are doing.
I’m disheartened by the fact that we are not only having to fight the dem/socialists. We’re in a fight with rino/gop-e types. Article after article the other day was how they’re gearing up to stop the Tea Party.
I have no problem with the old guard. It’s just they’re so OLD! They are no longer out helping, and I’m feeling spread pretty thin these days.
I am feeling a bit better today. It comes & goes...
