Most children expect to get candy when they go trick-or-treating. But, if they stop by one Fargo, North Dakota woman's house, they might get an unexpected "fat letter."
A station manager told valleynewslive.com in Fargo that a woman identified as Cheryl called into the Y-94 morning program saying that she wanted to make a stand against obesity during Halloween. Her idea? Give children who had extra pounds on them a letter instead of a sweet treat.
"You (sic) child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season," the letter reads. "My hope is that you will step up as an adult and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits."
North Dakota State University assistant professor of clinical psychology Dr. Katie Gordon told valleynewslive.com that the unsolicited fat letters could cause emotional problems for these kids instead of helping them with their weight issues. She said that having an overweight or obese child should be a matter between the child's pediatrician and parents.

I heard Todd Schnitt on his show out of Tampa say this story was debunked. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s true, but apparently it’s a hoax.

BUT other things, like this is NOT:

Isn’t Halloween all about making children feel bad about themselves? If true, she is a ditz.
At the very least, they should toilet paper her house. Except toilet papering means that you’re kind of popular and the kids think you’ll understand it as a joke.
This woman is beyond toilet papering. Maybe a lawsuit or two would do her good.
The “fat letter” is a reality, and apparently schools actually send these home with kids who have “failed” the BMI test.
It wouldn’t surprise me if some idiot white liberal Obama voter decided to do her own neighborhood fat monitoring program.
She is going to get “stomping out flaming sacks of dog poo” down to a science.
This is what ‘liberals’ do. They are essentially fascists who say that they ‘care.’
If she does this, her house, car, and garbage cans will become weekly targets and she will find burning bags of dog s#it on her doorstep for years to come.

I remember when this problem first cropped up before the President’s Council on Youth Fitness way back in 62 educators were concerned that the gym and playing field be an developing ground for social, aesthetic, spiritual, and moral values—not just muscle building. Provide adequate opportunities for physical education training and the rest will follow.
