Just had a major DUH! moment
vanity | 11/10/13 | GunsAndBibles

Posted on 11/10/2013 8:53:33 AM PST by GunsAndBibles

Was given a new Android phone (loaded with Google programs) and realized I'm always being monitored, even when the phone is OFF. Looking for a signal blocking case/enclosure, similar to Faraday cage. Now off to the range, trying a new batch of .223 using IMR4227 and 62gr. SS109. Thanks for your input.

Put the phone inside an old yard sale microwave or the government drones will know the location of your favorite shooting spot.

Depending on the model, take the battery out when not in use. Unfortunately for me, my awesome HTC One is sealed up tight. D:

Wrapping in tinfoil, I hear, works.

Just took the grandkids shooting so far up in the mountains that my Droid had no signal. Can they track me without a signal?

In Soviet America, you don't find signal, signal find you.

I also have the HTC. I considered pulling the battery, but would prefer a quick fix, like a shielded enclosure.

Recall that your phone is not usable when it’s wrapped up.

I have something neat that takes a lot of the guess work out. I have a smartphone and a used 10 minute pre-paid kid’s phone. (Not a smartphone).

I use Google Voice, and Google voice allows a single phone number to ring multiple phones. When I’m at work, and need the smartphone capability, I do. When not, I store the phone in a “faraday cage”. (Microwave)

When it comes to a “faraday cage” not just a screen will work. Because your car is a faraday cage, technically, and you see that your phone works just fine within it.

My phone based GPS position locator works in the wilderness, even without cell reception. I’ve always wondered how it was capable of doing this.

That thing won’t work. I gave this goof the right answer, but he was mean to me in a private freepmail. I could care less about what happens to him now.

In a faraday cage your phone will not be a phone.

Just shoot it.
