About as believable as Tony Curtis as a Greek slave in “Spartacus”. Still a fun film.

Curtis and Douglas are not brothers in the movie. Curtis is a slave. Douglas it the son of the local Norse lord.

Supposedly that line was from “The Black Shield Of Falworth.” But debunkers say Curtis never uttered those words. I saw the flick as a kid about sixty years ago, and I can’t remember anything except Curtis running and jumping around with a sword.

They’re half-brothers. Borgnine is their dad.

I know, I know...hard to believe Curtis as a Viking...but the movie was pretty authentic otherwise, the village set was researched and even the horses ridden by Douglas and borgnine were borrowed from a zoo as they were what the horses looked like at that time and place. I figured kudos to kirk Douglas for producing a film that strived for authenticity.

Erik: “And you, Sven, aren’t you afraid of crossing the Rainbow Bridge to Asgaard?”

Sven the Berserk: “I will join my grandfather there!”

Thorfinn Skullsplitter: “He’s not in Valhalla! He died of old age.”

I like my Viking movies with a bit more John Cleese than the others;

This was a bad afternoon for movies - “the Last Picture Show” from 2 to 5 on COZI and the best of the best “Casablanca” from 4 to 6 on TCM - and in the middle of it all the lovely Michael and Irene say goodbye scene from “The Perfect Storm” on the TVGuide channel - now when am I going to get my leaves raked???....
