Mark Wahlberg plays a Navy SEAL in his upcoming movie "Lone Survivor."
Tom Cruise made some controversial remarks that became public last week comparing acting to fighting in Afghanistan.
Specifically, Cruise said that being away from his young daughter for a long movie shoot was like serving in Afghanistan.
Business Insider's own Brian Jones, who served in Afghanistan, took serious issue with the actor's remarks.
So did Mark Wahlberg, who plays a Navy SEAL in his latest film "Lone Survivor," based o n actual events of the failed 2005 mission "Operation Red Wings" in which f our Navy SEALS who were tasked with the mission to capture Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd.
During a Q&A after the world premiere of Lone Survivor" last night in Los Angeles, Wahlberg went off when asked about the difficulty of the shoot:
For actors to sit there and talk about Oh I went to SEAL training, and I slept on the I dont give a f--k what you did. You dont do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the militarys. How f---ing dare you. While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.

He asked Marcus Luttrell if the movie was 'real'....faithfully rendered....and Luttrell said it was exactly what is in his dreams(or nightmares) every night!
Hope to see this one.
Mark is right on this.
Saw it a few years ago; great movie.
Didn’t Wahlberg say if he was on United 93; he would have taken the terrorists down by himself?
Tom Cruise, while not on my list of favorite actors, just got Palin’d.
He referred to his separation from his daughter as ‘brutal’. He did not compare himself to a soldier - opposition lawyer did that.
.....wonder if he can see visitation from there.
The movie was okay. It didn’t do justice to the book, and they took every opportunity to inject leftist drivel into the dialog.
I didn’t even know there was a book; I’ll check that out on Amazon. Thanks.
Please do read the series. Bob the Nailer will become one of your favorites. The movie does not do the book(s) justice.
Cruise! You can’t handle the TRUTH.
Thought he was good in this one.
Even in context it is a piss poor analogy. I’ve saw the whole thing earlier this week. Nothing compares to war especially asymetrical battle field. Tom is a wormy whiner
Everybody please take a cold shower. Marky Mark is a BIG Dem liberal. I’ve liked him fine in plenty of movies and he is a pretty good actor but he is a cafeteria Catholic Boston moron.
He had his way, that little .22 he used in “Shooter” to start taking it back at the bad guys would be about all the firearm you could legally own.
I saw a longer verison earlier this week that seemed like Tom did think he was in a War zone. Maybe it was twisted too. At any rate he acts like a whiney beyotch.
I saw him present an award, I was channel surfing, it may have been the oscars. He was “on-stage” with that stupid bear he was in a movie with. Some remarks had to do with offending peoople and Wahlberg said “I am a Roman Catholic” . He may be more of a closet conservative than we think. I thought it odd at the time that he would say Roman Catholic and not just Catholic. Or why bring religion into it at all. I have read he is a loyal husband and father and don’t many people get more conservative as they grow older? Let’s cut him some slack.
I like both Him and his Brother
Bingo I always thought he is a closet conservative. Remember Mark in his younger days had a reputation as a bad boy. But now, when his girlfriend got pregnant he got married and now I believe they have 2 kids. He has settle down a lot. Your right I think as he is growing older he is becoming more conservative. I believe he stated he is Pro Life also. I say good for him.
I always watch Shooter when it is on. A bit over the top in the story line but the sniper activities are top notch and Kate Mara is not hard to look at either. Watched Wahberg in “the yards” the other night too.
Frankly I don’t like very many actors but I think this guy is not in my hate group even if he is from Boston.
Wahlberg is the Anti-Damon.
I’ve spend a lot of time not liking “Marky Mark”. Now he’s trying to ruin all that by saying things I agree with.
Funny, during the movie the other night, there was a trivia question: whom is Walberg sometimes confused with being? Answer was Damon. Definitely seem like the anti matter of each other.
I only watched Shooter because I knew Danny Glover was gonna get capped.
By the way, Ned Beatty could not act his way out of a wet paper bag in that movie.
Glover murdered him in every scene.
Wahlberg contributed to the Presidential campaigns of Obama in both ‘08 and ‘12. How much “slack” do you cut to stupid like that?
I don’t cut any “slack” to the people I know personally who did that. I make them remember their stupidity every chance I get and I don’t care if they get upset. They need to learn.
Tim Cruise as Jack Reacher...that was a huge Hollywood joke for me this year.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. Marky Mark is a big, gun grabbing, liberal. Don’t be swayed by a little tough talk. He would gladly turn your ass in for having a firearm, whilst keeping his Hollywood, armed security.
The only movie I ever saw that followed the book was “the godfather”. I think the author had input into the movie. Saw nothing in the movie that wasn’t in the book.(that I can remember)
It was way worse than nutcase Cruise. Wahlberg was making implications about bravery and intelligence of the people on the flight.
Wahlberg was going to find some place to land as well.
