Celebrating the anniversary is just another way of saying ‘keeping it going’. Have you noticed that talking about these shootings causes another one?
I had a friend who worked for Septa here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His job was to manage all aspects of when a suicidal person jumped in front of an El train, from the clean up to what reached the press. He told me that when they had a jumper, they tried desparately to keep it from the press. He said when they got a hold of it, within a week, they would expect another.
Something excites the goofballs about reading about these incidents. They daydream about it and react to it.
The 40th anniversary of Bill Ayers’ bombing of the Pentagon last year (an election year for one of Billy’s buddies) didn’t even get a columnist mention.
I don’t care to see the other anniversaries marked in the media.
