Even more Ethanol in Gasoline?
Canada Free Press ^ | 11/14/2013 | Dr. Klaus L.E. Kaiser

According to the Worldwatch Institute, the US Department of Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack, is pushing for an increase of the current maximum of 10.2% ethanol in gasoline to 15-20%. Much of that is supposed to come from corn and, later, from cellulose (wood).

Under the current federal “Renewable Fuel Standard” the US is already slated to increase its use of biofuels from 9 billion gallons in 2008 to 36 billion gallons by 2022. That standard does not even include the proposed increase of the ethanol content of common gasoline.

The proposed revision would be a really bad idea and let me tell you why.

Lengthy but informative. Cars will run even less efficiently than they do now. But hey, prices will necessarily skyrocket.

Ethanol damages gaskets, seals, rubber, and wide band O2 sensors. I have had three cars/trucks that have had catalytic converter O2 sensors damaged by ethanol.

I’ve had to rebuild virtually every 2 cycle and some 4 cycle yard machine engines because of it. It is especially bad on things like 2 cycle engine carburetor fuel diaphragms and gaskets.

A pox on anyone who participates in any part of this!

We need to find out who owns “TRUFUEL”

Tax revenues will increase as we have to buy more gallons to go the same distance.

No one who cares about the middle class in this country, or the poor worldwide, would suggest burning more food for fuel.

Real self-proclaimed "liberals" have enough guts to face the facts: the solution to the problem of poverty is to create fewer impoverished people, which is to say: dispose of more of them. Sacrifices may need to be made during extreme emergencies, but better to sacrifice the poor than better people.

If ethanol is such a good thing for motor fuel, a much cheaper and more environmentally friendly way to produce would be to take a fraction of natural gas, ethylene, chemical formula C2H4, and combine it with H2O in the presence of a catalyst, forming C2H5OH, ethanol, chemically indistinguishable from the grain alcohol produced from the fermentation of corn grain and distillation to separate it from the water in which it is mixed. No erosion, no waste heat pollution, and no vegetable waste from the fermented grain mash.

ALL of the car manufacturers that market in the US have told the EPA that if they do that... it will be the EPA that will pay for warranty related damage due to this failed fuel concoction.

LOL! Like the epa would ever pony up a dime. If nothing else, they’d find a way to sue the auto companies for failure to comply. With something. They’ll just make it up as they go. And, if there’s a mud puddle on the auto companies property, look out.

Nothing but do-gooder politics and ideological traitorism.
Payoffs, kickbacks, vote buying and the American taxpayer gets the bill.

Some time, far in the future if mankind survives the victimism, lying, cheating stealing and entitlement sloth, people will marvel at a society hell-bent on propagating its sloth while simultaneously punishing the capable and encouraging the murder of human souls, to boot. It will further marvel at the gross stupidity of diverting staples that are FOOD to endeavors that have no economical or scientific basis other than politics.

Run 89 or 93 octane. No ethanol. Yes, I have verified this.

Yes, this emblem means that they’ve engineered gaskets, seals and sensors to last just long enough to get out of the warranty period.

I am blessed to have a non-ethanol gas pump in my town.

It’s the only gas that I ever buy. PERIOD.

Only a fool puts ethanol into his engine, be it car, truck, motorcycle, lawnmower, weedeater or boat.

A FOOL.

I talked to a guy a few months ago when I got some parts for a small engine and he said people have no clue what’s coming down in January.

The new fuel mix will have a shelf life for small engine use of about 2 weeks.

The new small engines will have to be tuned with a computer or they will not start much less run.

Apparently if you take a small engine in for repairs you will have to buy a carbon filter for the exhaust.

I feel your pain.

I drain/empty the fuel out of any two cycle machines now when I am done using them. Also, I never mix more than a gallon at a time. Try 93 octane too. I only use Star Tron (the blue one)fuel stabilizer.

The other thing if you live close to a marina, many will have gasoline without ethanol in it. I know there is a website that lists fuel stations that do not have ethanol.
