I don't know about BEING there, but it's an historic moment for me.

Imagine what happened when Pompeii was engulfed !
Did it start out this way .. ?

Hey Alice ... C'mere ... look at this ...

A few years ago, my wife and I were able to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum. What a trip! It combined two of my greatest interests, archeology and geology. Mount Vesuvius towers over the entire Naples area — never out of sight and a menacing presence.

Lots of volcanic activity in the news lately.

New Island near Japan. Hope things stay cool at Yellowstone.

> Whether or not Empedocles believed it, the speaker writes that he is a divine being that has been exiled even by the elements and that at the end of his exile he will be a divine being once again. This fragment could be the religious or spiritual part of a larger work containing On Nature since there is proof that Empedocles intertwined philosophic and mystical belief. As for Empedocles’ idea of himself as a divine being, there are many stories of his death but the most famous is that to prove his godliness he threw himself into a crater on Etna.
