'Humans evolved after a female chimpanzee mated with a pig'
dailymail.co.uk ^ | UPDATED: 05:49 EST, 30 November 2013 | DAMIEN GAYLE

Posted on 12/02/2013 7:33:22 AM PST by massmike

The human species began as the hybrid offspring of a male pig and a female chimpanzee, a leading geneticist has suggested.

The startling claim has been made by Eugene McCarthy, of the University of Georgia, who is also one of the worlds leading authorities on hybridisation in animals.

He points out that while humans have many features in common with chimps, we also have a large number of distinguishing characteristics not found in any other primates.

Dr McCarthy says these divergent characteristics are most likely the result of a hybrid origin at some point far back in human evolutionary history.

What's more, he suggests, there is one animal that has all of the traits which distinguish humans from our primate cousins in the animal kingdom.

'What is this other animal that has all these traits?' he asks rhetorically. 'The answer is Sus scrofa, the ordinary pig.'

Dr McCarthy elaborates his astonishing hypothesis in an article on Macroevolution.net, a website he curates. He is at pains to point out that that it is merely a hypothesis, but he presents compelling evidence to support it.

Setting aside the genetic incompatibilities (chromosome number and disparities in the matchup) how would this physical consummation actually take place? The anatomical differences alone make even the most imaginative configuration highly unlikely, if not altogether impossible.

There may, in fact, be a certain combination of genetic material between a high order of ape (not necessarily a chimpanzee) and some species of swine, but my contention is that it was done by an extraterrestrial visitor, a theory that seems to prevail at the studios of the creators of South Park.

For a gene ticist this guy is sure retarded, the modern pig came from humans breeding wild pigs which have less of the charactertistics that this guy is citing....

So in his addled mind, humans came from pigs.... which had to be domesticated FIRST... then bred to apes, but how could they be domesticated first if humans didn;t exist first....

Unless he is sthrowing time travel into the equations....

The Aquatic Ape theory looks perfectly SANE compared to this morons ramblings...

Even assuming the idea that haploid gametes from entirely different geneses could create a diploid cell the resulting cell replication would induce anueploidy which would either be lethal or carcinogenic. Not to mention the bizarre recombination of genes. I suspect this guy has made a drunken leap into stupidity in a manner similar to evolutionists. Perhaps he just saw an old Seinfeld re-run.

It actually makes more sense than the trees to savannah theory. Because if we went from the trees to the savannah we would end up looking more like this...

Both pigs and chimps are mammals. So are humans. If you believe in evolution, at some point they all probably had a common ancestor and therefor some common DNA.

Not the other way around that a chimp and a pig mated and produced offspring.

well, personally, I'm jealous of the hair in trees-to-savanah version of us...but yeah, i was amazed at the number of physiological issues the water ape theory answers.

Was watching a show that presented the theory, and a thing that stuck with me is how that took a troop of chimps that lived by the water, and started out dropping off a lot of food near the water. Old chimps would wipe the fruit clean of sand, and keep their distance from the water. Younger chimps figured out pretty quick that the lake did a more efficient job of cleaning food, and weren't adverse to going into the water. In less than a generation you had chimps hooting and hollering as they were jumping off cliffs into the water. I know that's no genetic change, but it sure showed a propensity to go aqua.

Yup and the fact that so many of the human adaptations are either re-used “aqua genes” or genes that had to come back because of semi0-aquatic adaptation...

Subcutenous fat, minimised body hair, shape of nose, swimming instinct in infants not seen in chimps, infants covered in fat, etc etc....

Maybe he is a recent convert....

Even if we are supposedly the offspring of pigs and chimps.. then shouldn’t we all appreciate the pigs more.... Appreciate that they are tasty meat candy than should be eaten in bacon form or BBQ form....

Mmmmmmmm
