A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year - an increase of 29 per cent. (snip)
...days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia's northern shores.
The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.

Will be interesting to see how they spin this one. Probably still caused by gloabl warming.
Actually according to the NASA site with pictures from 2012 and 2013... it is SIXTY EIGHT PERCENT LARGER IN ONE YEAR! That is a ONE MILLION SQUARE MILE INCREASE IN ONE YEAR!
Well you see it is because of CO2 reductions that the warming trend has been reversed and now we need to continue reducing CO2 until all those white people that live in the northern latitudes freeze to death.
Only fools and liberals get their Science from Al Gore
You’re repeating yourself.
20 hyper-rich greenies are vastly disappointed, but not convinced.
Would someone please tell AlGore to go sh!t in his hat.
Links are not working for me.
Here’s the original article, which explains an interesting typo in the NASA report;
And the article is from September.
Liberals aren’t getting their “science” from Al Gore,
they’re getting their righteousness.
Global warming is a way of deriving righteousness for “caring about the erf”, and a sense of superiority over those, like us, who “don’t care about the erf”.
LOLOLOL! Now that’s funny.
It'll get spun the same way anything that doesn't fit the agenda gets spun: Ignore, ignore, ignore.
The spin is “climate change”. Flex-logic.
Ya. By the so called “scientists.”
Yup. They can’t lose that way.
“Well with global warming you get variability” (actual moonbat quote!)
Global Warming guru Algore wearing his ever present Nobel medal is seen here en-route to an important scientific conference in Nassau hosted by the UN/IPCC where he was to be the keynote speaker.
Topics on the agenda were to have included Finding a Good Bail Bondsman, Not ALL Criminal Lawyers Are Sharks, Changing Careers for Dummies, You Want Fries With That?, How To Encrypt Emails, The Best Prison Jobs, Getting Along With Your Cellmate and Getting Used to Sleeping On Your Back.
A sudden and unfortunate blast of what the scientist in charge of the conference termed global warming caused the meeting to be rescheduled until Algore can be thawed some time next Spring assuming there will BE one.
Our reporter has learned that the influential conservative web site Free Republic has launched a contribution drive to rent a freezer locker in which to keep Gore for the 10 to 15 years estimated it will take for the so-called mainstream media to begin covering the Climategate story.
Not only is the increasing ice cap caused by global warming, it’s proof of global warming.
Just ask Al, but you may have to catch him between massages.
I’ll tell you about the ice cap and getting to the north pole. You go to Greenland and a helicopter takes you and dumps you on the ice cap.
My director of documentary films son, spent three months on the ice cap headed toward the north pole. A doctor and an expert polar explorer type went with the group. They were recreating the trip in 1911 when Amundsen and Scott raced to the south pole. They used dogs and sledges and those aren’t permitted any more at Antarctica so the race was recreated on the northern ice cap.
The two groups of explorers ate the exact type of food the original explorers ate and used the same ice/snow trappings the original explorers did down to the same type clothing they wore.
That ice sheet is 1 mile deep and at it’s deepest point it is 1.9 miles deep. There are two main dangers on the ice cap. Everything is white and you can’t see fissures in the ice and can step into one and never be seen again. That is one of the two reasons the expert was there as he knew how to avoid these fissures.
At one point, son wanted a particular shot and stepped to the area he needed to be to get that shot and stepped into a fissure. He was grabbed and pulled out by the expert.
The other danger on the ice is frostbite on the male penis. There is layer after layer after layer of insulated material over the private areas of a male. The male is in the extreme cold way below freezing and must unbutton, unzip, all those layers in order to urinate. The penis will begin to freeze fast so the male rushes to complete the job. Anxious to get back into the tent warmth, he doesn’t zip, button, zip, button all the layers and the penis freezes from the tip backward.
I have seen a film of a male this happened to and the front part of the penis was black. He was lucky in the fact that he was not circumcised. He was flown off the ice to a hospital where surgeons removed the dead skin.
At another time, son took three older explorers in different areas, one a journalist that covered wars, one a ship explorer, one a pole explorer, on the ice pack and one of those men had to be flown out due to penis frostbite.
That one mile thick ice pack isn’t going anywhere.
After the 3 months of nothing but white on the ice pack, son said seeing color again blows your mind. The color rushes into your brain and you have to adjust to seeing it.
Repeating a calculation until a prior desired result is produced.
When the world is near its end, the Sun will scorch the Earth.
I wonder if the non-Science Climate Alarmists will still be blaming fossil fuels for global warming:
“The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.”
There go my plans to drive on the new roads in the Arctic created by all the global warming that was supposed to happen by 1999..../s
I want to see car races on the ice.
Ice Road Racing
Yeah, maybe it was frostbite and maybe he was just makin’ up a story to avoid tellin’ you where he had really been.
Dunno about this one, but I *did* read an article not long ago that pinned the larger Antarctic ice sheet on global warming.
Must be tough to be an enviro-wacko. Twisting your brain into a pretzel has got to be difficult.
That ain't chicken feed.
No problem spinning this. They just call it “climate change” now instead of global warming.
The film of the male with the frostbitten private part was not him. As far as both films of the two excursions on the ice, I have seen those films.
He has to stay healthy to make films in dangerous weather so a suit was made for him to keep him warm. He has used that suit also in Russian Siberia twice.
Hey, when the media and the scientific community are complicit then it is easy to do.
Yes you are 100% correct!
How can the ice cap be growing? I thought globull warming was going to melt it all-Al Gore said so./s
Very interesting info from you Marcella. I had never heard that about freezing penis.
Thanks for the update and informative notes Marcella. I had forgotten that your son did documentaries.
Before he took the older men onto the ice pack, he showed them the film of the fellow who suffered that frost bite in order to impress on them how important it was to button/zip all layers after urinating. It takes effort in way below freezing to get all that insulation back where it belongs and the male makes the mistake of thinking it will be okay to just have the layers there and not fasten them properly and the frost bite happens very quickly. Not much of that piece of anatomy is attached to the body so it can freeze very rapidly and once that happens the person has to get off the ice as quickly as possible for surgical care.
The medical man was there to watch for frost bite anywhere on the men.
Once Wayne made that first three month film on the ice pack, from then on when any company wanted to make a film in that type severe cold, they called Wayne to do it - that’s why he was the one to make the two Siberian films. There are special precautions that have to be taken for a film camera to work in that severe cold so he also instructs other film makers how to preserve the camera so it will work.
Your son has my admiration. No way I would be adventersome enough to visit those extreme temperatures. My joints and bones ache just thinking about it!
